Hi, this would make more sense in the DISabilities section, but most of the threads seem Disneyworld related, and I need info for Anaheim and from Disneylanders. - Well actually if the moderators don't mind, I think I'd like to also post this there as well.

Going to Disneyland this week, my mother has MS and will be traveling in an ECV scooter. We go very often so we know what to expect and where to go. We've always been told she can enter through the Handicap entrances with up to 4 additional people (or was it 5?).

Normally we're less than 5 or 5 max. But on this trip we will be a huge party of 11 :scared1:. Some of the people we are traveling with are first timers and it would be nice if our entire group could enter at the same time. My mother has a severe limp which causes her to tire easily so the shorter the distance the better, otherwise she would ditch the scooter and we would all enter through the standard queue.

How should we deal with such a large group and my mother? Does anyone know how strict their policy is? Should we just try to enter anyway and have the castmember tell us if it's alright or not? They seem to be very flexible on the Pirates ride, I've seen very large groups with a disabled member allowed in together.

Anyone have experience with a similar group set-up? Thanks.

I just wanted to say that you should go ahead and post this on the disabilities thread too if you haven't already. It is mostly for WDW but I asked several DLR questions there and got good responses.

My thoughts?
Let the ones who have not gone before go with your mom and you seasoned ones go threw standard line. you will not all be able to go with her and there for its no use trying. Or have mom go threw the handicapped Que and wait until your whole party comes up to get on the rides.

I was in the alternate entrance to Pirates a few weeks ago and a CM was telling the party of 10 in front of us that Pirates was the only ride that the whole group couldn't go through the handicap queue because of the way the ride is configured. He didn't make them leave, just said next time....

You can always tell the CM at the entrance you have a large group and let it be up to them, I can imagine it won't be much fun to have to basically split your group in half and I see why it would be necessary.

Also most of the DCA rides are accesible through the regular queue

Rules say only a party as large as 6- including the disabled person. DLR is very stern about this policy and I have yet to see a larger party allowed.

You basically have 3 options......
a] split up your party and have some go into the standard line, and some ride with your mom

b] split up the party and have your mom go on the ride 2 times in a row to accomodate the entire party.....half on half off kinda thing
or option

c] Have a 2nd member of the party get a GAC pass for themselves [make up an ailment] and split the party into two groups.......this would allow you to go on at the same time....with maybe a few minutes wait in between groups.....yes technically it's cheating but when you have a large party you gotta do what you gotta do.....I see no point in splitting up and waiting a really long time for the remainder of your party to play catch up.

Flame away if you like but the point of enjoying a group is BEING with your group.....why should handicap people suffer having to split everybody up?

Why not just have Mom go thru the handicapped line with some of the party, the rest can enter via the normal line but Mom and gang can wait to ride until the rest of the crew catches up? I really don't think it's very nice to "make up an ailment" just to get a second GAC....

thats what I said above. I think mom can handle going with only 6 and I think the others will be adult enough to go thru the regular line. making up an ailment is what makes the GAC over used by those who do not use it just so everyone can have there way! really, for those of us who have to use it, I would give anything not to!! and surly not to use it so we can "cheat the sysem"
I wish I could walk, I hate the stares from people. I want to be able to stand in lines, to Be normal in body !!
