So I have already booked my trip any everything (just got my dining reservations this morning!!) and they told me I could add travel insurance to the trip at any time except the final payment. First off, is it worth it? Second, is there a way to add it online now that I have the trip already booked or do I have to call?

You might check a third party for travel insurance. We've sometimes found the coverage for the price to be better for us using a third party. There are a couple of search sites to help compare: squaremouth and "insure my trip" (all one word) are two. I have used Divers Alert Network (I'm a diver and a member) but they offer travel insurance (in the US) at pretty good rates usually. I don't believe you have to be a DAN member to purchase. (diversalertnetwork.org). Their insurance is actually provided by CSA which you'll see in the comparison sites.

Is it worth it? Traveling domestically I generally do not take trip insurance. Internationally I usually do. The question would be, how much can you afford to spend if things go wrong on a trip? How does that compare to the price of the insurance? The time I did not take insurance and needed it I wound up spending over $1200, unplanned, for extra expenses (hotel, food, transportation) including a new plane ticket home. On the other hand, I've probably spent that much on insurance that I haven't had to use. It would have been nice to have that money back and folks that did have insurance were reimbursed. The insurance, in that case, would have probably been somewhere around half the cost of the expenses.

By the way, sometimes credit cards include some travel insurance provided the card is used for the tickets and expenses. It may be worth while to read the small print and details for your cards.

If you are staying at two resorts do you have to purchase insurance twice or does it cover it for the length of your stay regardless of different reservations?

Usually travel insurance is for the length of the trip and a start and finish date is specified at time of purchase. The dollar amount covered is specified as well.
