Question about transferring/renting points

I have points I am not using for my use year of Feb. 2013. I borrowed points from 2013 for my May vacation and have these left and I would be happy to transfer or rent them.

My question is how would I rent the points? I know that it is up to me to make the reservation but can I just make a reservation? I hope you know what I mean. LOL

The transfer part is easy but if someone wants to rent how does that work?

If I understand correctly you have points from your Feb 2013 use year and presumably will not use them before Jan 31, 2014. If you cannot use them during the 2013 use year, you could just bank them into 2014 and use them that use year. Otherwise your options are to either (a) do a transfer to another member if you can find someone that needs them in which case you could possibly transfer all the points; or (b) do a rental via your setting up the reservation for someone else using your points or going through a rental broker who will find a renter for you such as David's Vacation Club Rentals who is a sponsor of this site. If you do that, you will have issues of doing a rental that is exactly that number of points unless the trip that is set up uses exactly that amount (not something you can necessarily count on happening and thus you may lose a few of those points or just bank whatever is left over).

Thank you that helps! It seems like I should just see if anyone wants to transfer the points. I won't be able to use them and we thought it would be good to have the extra cash for this trip if possible. Do I just post a thread on the rental forum or do I need approval first?

Points that have been banked or borrowed can not be transferred. If you have no use for points that are not borrowed or banked points already, you can do that.

If you prefer, or if the points are borrowed or banked, then you could let someone know that you have points available to book them a reservation. And, the rules and how to do that can be found on the Rent/Trade board.

Can't you just advertise you have borrowed points and find someone to make a reservation under their name at your resort and they make one for you under their resort?
