Question about transferring points.

What are the rules about transferred points, they retain their resort and use year don't they? I am wondering, as I will need 17 more points in my account to book some rooms in November, for a BWV stay in October of 2008. My home resort is BWV and my use year is October, so I will be using all of my October 2008 points. Would whoever transfers me points need to have BWV points in order to retain the 11 month booking window? And the points would still have to be within their use year in October of 2008 correct?

That is the way it should work, but some have reported issues with it actually happening that way.

But to be on the safe side, I should stick to BWV points to be transferred?
