If points are transferred from one DVC member's account into another's, do they retain the use year and home resort of the original points? For example, if OKW points were transferred into my BCV home resort account, could I use them to make a BCV reservation at the 11 month window?

They are supposed to retain the original use year and resort identity. It has been reported (by me included) that some transfers do not retain their original resort identity. If that happens, you would be able to do what you want to do, but I'm not sure it's worth the risk. Others have reported transfers where everything went as it is supposed to. It would be a gamble for you, especially if the 11 month window is important.

I have an April use year (BWV) and a friend has an August use year (BCV). Over a year ago, she transferred some of her August 2003 points into my account for an April 2004 reservation. Member Services insisted that they became April 2003 points and that they had to be banked manually before I could make a reservation at the 7 month mark. That manual banking took 24 hours. The problem was we were right at the 7 month mark and wanted to make reservations for a BWV standard view. Luckily it all worked out and we got the reservation but according to the rules those points shouldn't have had to be banked, they should have remained August 2003. So the moral of the story is make sure you have your transfer complete and everything clear before you hit the 11 or 7 month window.

A friend of mine just rented some BCV points from someone and had them transferred to me. I have SSR points.

We were able to book a Beach Club ressie for her at the 11 month window, but it wasn't as simple as normal. The CM had to take our request, and then process it with her manager after hours.

The CM was extremely nice about it, it just took a bit longer than making a normal reservation would.

I recently transferred points to two people, and both times the DVC CM on the phone stressed that the points retain their home resort and use year. So I think DVC is paying more attention to this now than it has in the past. What it boils down to is this: their computer software isn't set up to track transferred points that well, so what happens is that when the points are used to make a ressie at the 11-month window, the CMs have to manually check the home resort and UY of the points because the computer isn't aware of it. That is what often causes the confusion when making ressies with transferred points.

Just thought it might be helpful to clarify what happened in DebbieB's case... Here is an excerpt of the Points Transfer thread I typed up last year. It's from the "unofficial" section at the bottom, letter "h".
If the Transferrer and Recipient do not have matching Use Years, then the Recipient may not have a full year (12mos) of use out of the Transferred Points. This is because when the Transfer is performed, MS will ask the Recipient to choose which Use Year they want the points Transferred into. Example: Transferrer has a Sep UY, Recipient has a Apr UY. If the transfer is done today Jan04, and the Transferror wants to Transfer out Sep03 points, then the Recipient has a choice to receive points into their Apr03 UY (making the points only valid from 9/1/03 to 3/31/04) OR their Apr04 UY (making the points only valid from 4/1/04 to 8/31/04).
In other words, due to the MS computer system limitations, the points do sort of "take on" the recipient's Use Year in a way. So, it's very important to tell MS ahead of time, exactly when the recipient is planning to use those transferred points. Specifically asking to have the Aug 2003 points put into the Apr 2004 UY should've prevented the need to bank the transferred points as in DebbieB's case. HTH!
