I have a reservation for Mickey's Backyard BBQ at 5:30 on Dec 11. I am thinking of getting tix for MVMCP for the same night. I read that the BBQ is 90 minutes which means it will end around 7:00p. Will we be able to get to MK easily from the pavilion so we don't waste too much party time? Is it too much to do in one night? The other MVMCP nights do not fit into my existing plans and I would love to attend. Any input would be greatly appreciated!

14 more days to Disney!!!!!!!

I think the best thing would be to try and change your BBQ time or day. That is, if you are using WDW transportation. If you're driving, you might be a little late, but probably still ok. Still, you could move the ADR and go to the party at 4pm, which is when they let people with party tickets into the park.

Thanks! I tried to move my ADR but the other times for the BBQ don't work either. I may just have to decide between the two. The nice thing about the BBQ is that my parents will be coming and it will be one of few things we can do together as they do not want to come to the parks with us (me, DH, and 3 DCs). We will be driving but I wasn't sure if there was a boat that could take us to MK from the pavilion. Thanks for the input about the traveling!

Don't give up yet. There are boats that go from Ft. Wilderness to MK, but I've read that they can be slow. Another option is to take a taxi. Arrange it ahead of time so it's there around when you get done. Worst case scenario, you miss the beginning of party time, but you can still go! If I was going that time of year, I'd figure it out like you are, cause I would want to go just as bad. We can figure something out, and hopefully others will jump in here with more ideas.

There is a boat from FW to CR, but I don't know if that would be any faster than the MK boat. Good luck! :goodvibes

Just wanted to say if you do take a Taxi do not tell them you wish to go to the Magic Kingdom or you will than be dropped off at the TTC. Say you wish to go to the Contemporary resort, than walk from their.

I'll advise you to do one or the other. Mickey's Backyard B-B-Q is an event in itself. There is a lot of interaction with the characters, the time to eat, and then photo ops outside after your meal. You won't feel rushed for the next group of diners coming in. For parties I always feel for the price of that ticket get there at 4 pm and get your monies worth.

Personally, I would not do both. After I did the BBQ, my family were all pretty tired and lazy, being full from a buffet. We just went straight back to our resort. Depending on the crowds, it can take a while to get back to MK on the boat as well. We had to wait for 2 boats and were more than 30 minutes getting on.

A Taxi would be the worst possible choice to get between Mickey's BBQ and MK.

But, it would take longer to explain why than I care to type.

I can totally see that happening with my family. We will definitely stick with the BBQ and see if MVMCP can fit in another day. We have park tix on our other days and I wanted to save the party for a non ticket day. Thanks everyone for your help!

It's definitely doable, but bear in mind the following:

*People with party tickets are admitted as early as 4pm on party days. If you're ok with arriving later on and not maximizing the value of the party tickets, then this is a moot point.

*Since people can arrive as early as 4pm, lines for the popular character meets start forming well before 7pm. If you arrive after 7pm, be prepared to spend ample party time waiting in line for the more popular characters.

For us, we don't care much for characters and don't feel the need to arrive right at 4pm, so your plan is something I would probably do.
