Well GOF is the 4th movie. The next book out will be the 7th and i'm assuming last. I just read on another thread that there's 2 years till the next movie. Why so long. If they did a movie every 2 years there would be 6 more years till the the series was finished making it pretty impossible for the original cast to finish the movies. If they followed the one movie a year pattern the cast would age with the movies, even though they might be a tiny bit older.
Also, how long do you think it will be til the final book comes out. The last one took quite some time. There are alot of loose ends to tie up. I'm assuming it will be another very long one.

About the movies, it takes time to take the book to a screen play version. It also has to be checked by and maybe approved by Rowling. Then you have to shoot the movie, which may mean waiting for decent weather, building props and such. Then you have to edit the movie for release. This in general seems to take 2 years to do. Alot of sequels are generally 2-3 years later.

About the books, I don't think she has started on it yet and it will probably be around 18-24 months away as a minimum. Even after the book is written, it takes about 6 months to get it published with all the printing and checking that has to be done. There are debates as to the length but most likely it will be fairly long to get through everything and at least answer some of the major questions.

Well, it took 11 months just to film Goblet of Fire. After that, you have at least 4 to 5 months of post-filming editing, addtion of special effects, sound effects dubbing, re-recording of dialogue, etc, etc. And with even longer and more complex plots and effects, it could well take 18 to 24 months to complete the next few films.

Some of the length of filming is due to the fact that the children can only legally work for 4 hours a day. Also, they have to spend 3 hours a day with on on-set tutor.

But I wouldn't worry about the kids being "too old" for their roles. The actress who played Fleur is actually 22! And movies have long used actors to play younger roles, so I think the same could easily be done for Daniel, Emma, and Rupert.

I have heard that Daniel, Emma and Rupert are confirmed for Order of the Phoenix. In the interview, even they seemed to doubt they'll be the right age for 6 & 7.

I don't think it will be much of a problem. IIRC The kids are about 16 years old right now so in 6 years they will be 22 years old. In the last books, Harry, Ron, and Hermione are older teens. It is quite common for Actors and Actresses in the 20's to play teenagers.

I actually think the 3rd movie was the biggest stretch. Harry looked much older than 13 in that book to me. The 5th movie is due to start filming really soon.

They are going to start filming the next movie in Jan/Feb of 2006 so it won't be ready by next fall. The death of Richard Harris is what threw the filming schedule off. I think #6 will follow #5 the next year. #7 is up in the air because JKR hasn't written the book yet.

It seems that Watson is most likely to beg-out of the last two films, if any of the three. Playing the same role, and little else, for a full decade, is daunting for an actor, and often can lead to Mark Hamill/Carrie Fisher syndrome. So that might come into that aspect of the films.

The producer's best bet, at keeping this cast together, is to film #6 and #7 at the same time, back to back, so the filming for #7 is finished before #6 even comes out. The last two Matrix films were done that way.
