Ok, I really enjoyed the WDW special on the Food Network and I loved seeing how the big gingerbread house at GF is made and all the other stuff.

But, here's my question. They kept stressing how EVERYTHING is edible and went on and on about how much gingerbread, how much chocolate at the Boardwalk Inn, etc., was used.

But what happens to all that food after the holidays? Do they just throw it away? DH and I were both wondering about this.

Also, could they get someone BESIDES Raven to do the special next year? Jeez, that girl drives me nuts. :teeth:

because of the preservative they have to put in/on this stuff for it to be on display for soooooo long and to keep all the Florida bugs away from it these exact pieces would not be edible. However, if you were to try and duplicate in your own home all of the actual ingredients are safe for human comsumption (for those without food allergies of course).

There is another thread around here on this special. Lots of posters did not care for Raven as the host of this hour.

You know, I'm not sure that they did put any preservatives on it--the gingerbread house, at least. They showed one baker applying an egg wash to make the pieces shiny and they showed another baker cutting a piece of shingle and then EATING the leftover bit so it obviously doesn't have any preservatives in it when they're putting it together. Plus they use royal icing to hold it all together which is mostly powdered sugar and egg whites and then sprinkle powdered sugar on the roof to make it look like snow.
