I'm hoping to keep my existing plans and stay at AKL from 8/4 - 8/11. I'm wondering if the walkway to the bus stops is shaded? One of the many reasons we chose AKL was a shorter un-air conditioned walk to the bus stop so if it's not shaded it's a livable situation but with so many experts around here I thought maybe someone would remember. Thanks!!

AND, protected from the rain. The entire bus stop area is covered.:thumbsup2

getting from the front door to the buses is so not a problem. getting between your room and the front door might be something else. when i stayed at AKL, i was almost at the end of one of the wings and my feet (not in that great of a shape to begin with) hated me with a passion after a few days. i'm sure for most people it's not an issue though.

You can walk almost all the way to the bus stop indoors. Go almost to the end of the Giraffe trail and look for the exit stairway. It's a short half flight down to the walkway, right near the bus stop. We used this every night coming back from the parks so we didn't have to walk uphill in the heat to the main lobby entrance.;)

we always ducked in to the gift shop from the AKL bus stop so as to avoid the uphill walk and get into the a/c sooner...

p.s. HI racinjunkie!

:confused3 Why would this matter? You are at WDW. The sun will be following you around all day. You will be standing in lines that last for hours and the Florida sun will always be finding you. Just wondering.

Thanks for the info everyone! Sounds wonderful!!

Well because I have a child with multiple medical issues including kidney failure, we need to keep her exertion and heat load minimized when we can. A few less minutes in the blazing sun will add time to the parks portion of her day.

Every time we've stayed at AKL, we've been down at the end of the last little wing on the Uzima Savanna. That is a looonnnnngggg walk to the lobby. Still, it's my absolute favorite WDW resort.

If you are not a guest at Animal Kingdom and eating at Jinko's or Boma's, you cannot use the side-door without a key. It's a nice walk-down hill, but when we got to the bus stop, I had to back track and go back to the bathroom. I wish they had closer bathroom's to bus stops.
