Question About The Report Card Program

I am leaving to USO in about two weeks and we will be staying at the PBH. I really would like my son to receive the free sodas but the school district in Los Angeles got rid of the letter grade system. Instead of letters they now use a numerical system from 1 through 4, 4 meaning advanced. Do you think this will pose a problem for my son to participate? He has all 4's , will they accept that? Thanks.

I would think that they would accept this. Take it with you and show them and I would bet it would be honored. It's really just a feelgood offer anyway and doesn't cost them much of anything (fountain soda's cheap) so I don't think the would run the risk of ticking someone off by not taking a 4 as an A.

Just back from a trip to RPR. My DD10 was excited because she made the all A Honor Roll and had brought her grades up considerably since the beginning of the year. Her teacher sent home a note expressing her pride. We packed the honor roll certificate, her report card and the note from the teacher. We were checked in by Pia who is one of the best and she said that Loews discontinued the program. To add insult to injury she said they stopped the T-Loews teen gifts. We stayed off-site the next night and checked back in to RPR the next. A different reception attendant at least gave her the shovel and pail.
The Grade A Kids program costed Loews next to nothing! They gave a soda or a dessert IF you ate at one of the resort's (that you were staying at) restaurants or the kids could get a soda at the pool bar. How much could this have costed Loews? PBH might still do it because it costs so little and draws guests to their restaurants.
Had I known that they discontined the program I would have arranged for them to give her a reward at my expense. She worked very hard and was very proud and excited to be taking her report card to the hotel and "carrying her weight" with the cost and her look of disappointment was heartbreaking. I had to make a special point to reward her in other ways.
Loews has to remember that their Orlando hotels need to be more child friendly than the others.

I couldn't agree more. Adding small perks comes with a big reward.

Motherfletcher - This probably will not help much, but please tell your DD that I am VERY proud of her. Doing her best doesn't always reap rewards right away, but in the end... if she continues to do well in school, she will reap the rewards in big ways! ;)

that is a shame! i bet your daughter still had a great time though. i am trying to remember now if i told my niece about the program as she is an all "A" student. i hope not as i wouldn't want her to be disappointed.

Motherfletcher - My DS is also 10 (we are just north of you in Lee) county and we found out last November that they discontinued this program:mad: when he brought in his report card. Not that it made much difference - se were at club lever at RPH.

I do know that they gave all three of the kids a fun tie dyed bag, with a pair of cheap sunglasses and an "air" (inflatable) guitar when we stayed at the HRH in Sept. Nothing at the RPH for the kids.

I agree - they do need to add some "stuff" for kids at all three of the onsites. A little bit goes a long way!:teeth:

cc1954-
In July PBH recognized the Grade A Kids program.
In Oct. RPR recognized it but HRH didn't.
In Dec. RPR would have but we forgot the report card.
You would think that right after school gets out for the year they all would participate.
Like I said before this program benefits the hotel as much as the kids. We ate lunch at Jake's so my DD10 could get a cup of chocolate ice cream or a soda, not both. We probably would have gone to Mytho's if they didn't have the program. The cup of ice cream did not amount to 1% of our meal bill. Who would go out of their way for a 1% discount?

Candice30-
My daughter had a great time. She got a hair wrap, SpongeBob sandals, a Hulk shirt and Mythos pizza as rewards. She also has her "friends" at the parks. I think it is great the way some of the employees remember people and acxknowledge them. And of course the big thing was front seat on the Hulk with her brother and no one else on the train.

Familyof14-
Thanks. She told me this trip that she wasn't going to college. Yeah, right!

So Motherfletcher - what you are saying is - it depends on who you talk to, when you talk to them?

So - should I be more pushy? ::yes::
