Question about the Plaza Restaurant

I have a question I hope someone can clear up for me. Is the Plaza Restaurant in MK a table service or counter service restaurant if you're on the dining plan? DBF and myself have our trip booked for 11/30-12/7/07. :cool1: We are also on the dining plan and are trying to narrow down some options about where we'd like to eat. I've seen on some places that The Plaza is listed as a table service credit and others it shows as a counter service credit. :confused3

Also, if anyone has eaten there, how is it? I've checked out the menu and it seems to be pretty good.

It's definitely a table service place. We ate there on our trip in December. We liked it well enough. We all had different kinds of sandwiches - the Plaza Club was good. I don't remember what DH had. One boy had a grilled cheese and the other had peanut butter and they were happy. We had salads for appetizers and the kids meals came with tomato soup. We all had sundaes for dessert. It was a nice break from walking around the park. We would probably consider going there again if we were on the Dining Plan. I do remember the waitress being a little "harsh" at first. She seemed to be a in a hurry and not what I would call "approachable." I told my husband I wanted more soda but I was afraid of that lady! Toward the end of our meal, she softened up a bit. Maybe she was just having a bad day? Don't know....

Thanks for the info! :thumbsup2 There aren't too many options in MK, other than the run of the mill burgers and counter service places. We went to Liberty Tree Tavern 2 years ago on the dining plan and liked it, for the most part. Since we are on the dining plan again this year, we wanted to go somewhere we had never been to. We will probably try The Plaza. Hopefully we won't get the same waitress!! :scared1:

As the previous poster said, it's a table service restaurant. We've eaten there twice and the food was just so-so. Not at all what it's hyped up to be although the service was good.

Have you thought about the Crystal Palace? I am super picky about buffets but this one is really well maintained and staffed. The food was really good and there was a wide variety to choose from.

We really enjoy the Plaza - its like an oasis in the middle of chaos most of the time!

The fare is mainly salads and sandwiches, nothing really heavy or elaborate. I highly recommend the club sandwich and the tomato soup. I also recommend the banana split made with cookie dough ice cream..... so you might want to take my recommendations with a grain of salt, LOL!

Hmmm...maybe will have to think this one over. DBF is not a big fan of the buffets but maybe this one he would be willing to try. Is there a big variety on the buffet or is it just your "run of the mill" buffet stuff?

Salads and sandwiches are fine with me:thumbsup2 I seem to be getting some mixed reviews on this place. I've always wanted to try it in the past years we've gone but have never thought of it. MK doesn't offer too many eating options, other than the usual counter service fare.

We always squeeze a trip to the Plaza in. It is indeed table service, but we seldom will use our dining credits and will pay OOP for this place. Keep in mind that even though TS options are low at MK, you can certainly get on the resort monorail and visit one of the MK resorts for a nice meal. There is a huge variety of places to visit at the Contemporary, Poly, and GF, then jump back on the monorail to go back to MK when you're done. It's always a nice break!

Good point about hopping the monorail. We've eaten at Kona before and I thought that was awesome. I remember I had the terriaki steak and it was wonderful! :) I still have some time before we make our ADR's (not going til 11/30/07) but I love planning this stuff! I'm driving DBF nuts!

WE are regulars at Kona's and that is also my husband's favorite dish. You have so many options, sometimes you just have to look beyond the parks.
