Since our last DCL cruise we've started using our Igloo MaxCold backpack as our port backpack because it's perfect for holding our wet clothes without getting everything else wet. My plans are to just pack it in my luggage and stuff it with shoes or something but am I going to run into any issues with this on board, getting off the ship or getting back on if this is what we use for our bag the entire trip?

I cannot see how this would be any different than a regular backpack. Except that it is really cool and now I want one. :)

Seriously, I think you will be fine. They actually sell soft sided coolers on the ship and Castaway Cay for drinks etc...this one is just more stylish and functional.

Thanks, after our last two cruises it worked great for keeping our water bottles cool at the pool but then worked even better in port after an excursion when we wanted to get out the wet clothes.

This is what we use to carry our water bottles around WDW.

Just a note when we got ours it seemed like Target was the only place that had them in the store.

Its also our goto cooler for trips of any kind.

Yeah, I believe Target is where we got it from.

I think soft-sided coolers are allowed. I think they don't want people bringing those big hard-sided ones.

Ours has never been an issue. And remember Disney sells soft sided coolers for their waters. Or at least they did two years ago. :)

Actually, there's no distinction between hard sided or soft sided ones in the prohibited description:
You may not bring:
  • Ice chests or coolers, except as noted below.

You are welcome to bring:
  • Coolers no larger than 12" x 12" x 12" [30.5cm x 30.5cm x 30.5cm], as carry-on luggage only for storing medications, baby food or items related to dietary restrictions only.

AND

Items prohibited on board ship and on Castaway Cay.
  • Ice chests and coolers, except for those permitted for storing medications, baby food and items related to dietary restrictions

I'm pretty familiar with the policy, I'm more asking of opinions of whether I will have an issue using an insullated backpack as my backpack while on board, getting on and getting off the ship. They're more than welcome to dig through my wet speedo and goggles to see if I am hiding any capt morgan.

Based on reports on this forum from time to time, and on my own observations of people using these as recently on a cruise 2 weeks ago, no problem. They look pretty useful to me. Hope you don't get a "here are the rules" posting, since Disney only talks about ice chests and coolers, not backpacks.

I actually remembered to pack the Disney soft side cooler (yay me because I forget stuff like that) a couple of trips ago that I bought on CC in September 2015 ( the pretty blue one that looks nautical)
I put our CC tumblers in it with ice we got from our cabin host. I wsh I would remember to pack it more often...it is quite nice. And yes, I did pay for that originally, but no one questioned me when I used it recently.

I think that back pack should be OK.... they are mainly after the large plastic ones....

Water is a dietary need. OTC meds also need to stay cool. So toss a bottle of naproxen or something like that in. Problem solved. If you were really worried in the first place, I put my medically necessary energy drinks in. Headaches are horrible without them and the withdrawals are crazy bad.
