Question about the LEGO store...

Ok, let me collect myself after reading about the castle rehab..ok.

We plan on going to DTD and will check out the LEGO store. Does anyone know if you can purchase just regular legos without the whole kit thing? What I mean is back in the day, long long ago, I used to play with Legos and back then you would just buy a box of legos and could build anything your little heart desired. Now when I go shopping I only see kits that you make one vehicle and that's it.
I was able to find one small collection of my old legos for my DS to play with and he is not interested in the building kits that are sold in our local stores. So I thought it'd be cool to buy him just a big ol' box of legos so he can build to his hearts content as I used to do.
Does the LEGO store sell just parts?

Well, I'm not sure. I know they have a zillion Legos outside for kids to play with. I'd imagine that shop would be the best place to purchase standard packs of Legos.

You can buy *anything* Lego at the LEGO store--including the big boxes of just the blocks. We have three of those sets now (you can never have too many) and two of the three we've bought at the LEGO store. I think they're about $10--actually cheaper than we bought the same set at Target for. Of course it's easy to get caught up in the extra Lego stuff, too, like the "fill a bucket," where you fill up a bucket with different color bricks, accessories, etc., or the one where you can create 3 different Lego people for $10. It's easy (and fun) to spend a ton, but if just a simple set is all you want, it's there.
