Okay, dh and I have discussed this at length. We cannot believe that every time we go into the Horror Makeup show that there is some unsuspecting female tourist from JAPAN who gets picked out of the audience and "frightened" by the two actors.

Are they planted or is there really a Japanese tourist in EVERY show (and we go during the off seasons too). At the last show we looked around and picked her out before the actors did. What do you think?

Thanks for your input!

Yeah, there definitely is. I don't think you could act that scared. lol

I've seen it a lot and I've caught different kinds of girls.. But I think they even look for a Japanese or Chinese woman with little to no English because they worked out a lot of good lines for it.

We just went in July and then in December. The lady in December was Spanish. I don't recall exactly what nationality the one in July was but she wasn't oriental. I think they watch the audience and look for people who don't speak english.

We've seen the show twice. Once an Asian woman was picked, once an African American. They were both sitting in the upper middle area of the audience seats.

My SIL was picked a couple of years ago, and she's neither Oriental nor Hispanic. We were sitting in the first or second row center section. It's really a neat show. Can't believe we had been to Universal on 12 different trips before we went in.

On another matter, does anyone else miss Murder She Wrote - The Black Pearl as much as I do? Those audience participation shows are so much fun, especially when you can the kooky audience member. :lmao:

I not only remember that one I was picked 3 times, 3 consecutive years, by the same guy who did the show, to growl in the mike like King Kong! The second time I was picked I was surprised, the third time dh and I joked about me getting picked before we went in- dh said that the actor must have a thing for petite brunettes. :lmao:

I don't think the volunteer is a "plant", I just think that they look to select Asian women as the volunteer. When we were there in January, there were no Asian women in the audience so a woman from Canada was selected.

When we went in July it was an african american woman and I think she was from Alabama.

When you've been to Horror Makeup as much as we have half of the fun is guessing who will be the volunteer and who will be the babe in the front row that gets wet. Our last trip I told the guy next to us that his girlfriend was going to get wet and I hit the nail on the head.
What I really hate is when someone has been there before and tries to holler out their own punch lines and tell everyone whats going to happen. I had to sit next to a guy once who was totally obnoxious and Mark James looked at me like I was with the guy. I finally told the guy to shut up. But the guy's kid was even a jerk.
I have to tell my daughter to give a little pause before she hollers "ET" when prompted.

My wife has gotten nailed twice with the water. We've seen that show many times and still love it. :thumbsup2

I've seen Mark laying on his back begging for mouth to mouth from a cute girl in the front row and she got up and went to him. He was kind of taken back. Then he didn't know who to squirt when he was showing his heart.

in the 30 + times i have seen this show, only once a japanese woman was chosen as the volunteer. i go in the off season.

it seems like to me that they want to chose someone that has family or a friend with them.

last year they took a woman in the back row up front.

And I'm caucasion. It was not planned and I was completely embarassed. We were sitting front and center and let me tell you. NEVER AGAIN. I hide in the middle sidish rows now. They pulled me up 3 different times and while it was fun in a humiliating sort of way, I wouldn't volunteer for the job. I prefer laughing at other people.

They cut my arm open, put a cleaver through my neck and draped a dried out mummy around me. The last show I saw was different. That time they picked on my daughter. They didn't pull her up on stage but they kept squirting her with water. A fun show.

I didn't like the show the first time. then it's like Jaws, it just grows on you and becomes a favorite. Mark James is one guy who truly loves his job, and I envy that. I also keep trying to steal the prop from American Werewolf in London. :)

We never went too often when the park opened but now we don't miss it. Alex Ross has been played more and more often by a female and occassionally they will have a Marty James. We saw the show once when they both were female. My kids said it wasn't as good.
Remember when they did the skit around the movie "The Fly" or when they explained the special effects from the "Nutty Professor"?
I think the show has evolved into a show that exceeds the expectations of most guests. It's hard not to laugh. I'm a little worried about where they have gone with the latex gag, though.

i have to hit this show each time i am at UO.

sometimes, i see it 3x in one day.

When I first came on this board someone was talking about how terrible and scary and inappropriate it was for kids, so we skipped it. After I got a feel for the parks, I thought how scary can it be, so we went in on our third trip. Unfortunately, dh lost a little faith in my Dis friends that day, LOL, maybe that poster was joking?

I've seen a Spanish woman and a hilarious African American woman.

snoopy, someone on the universal forums bad mouthed my favorite show???

or was it on the disney threads?

shame on them. that show is a hoot. :teeth:
