Question about the Green Mickeys/Alien green chip etc.

I've been reading through the threads here, and I was wondering, what's with the Alien green colour?
Is it a colour that shows you are a DIS member?
Who chose Alien Green?
Did Disney make the colour just for the DIS boards?
I'm confuzzled.

Alien Green is like a neon green. It has just evolved over the years on the DISboard. I think it was only chosen because it is bright, and easy to spot in a crowd. It's been pretty successful except all of a sudden, lime green became a really "hot" color and just about everyone in the parks was wearing it on some part of their body! And no, Disney (or whoever is the actual manufacturer of the paint) did not create it just for the DIS. As a matter of fact, I wonder if anyone @ Home Depot has ever figured out why they can't keep that paint chip sample in stock!

Maybe they think that people really like that color since they can't keep it in stock.
