I know that if you give a day...you can upgrade at the park to a higher number of tickets or an annual pass, but my questions is, if you get an annual pass at the DVC rate (the $100 discount) do you get that one day ticket taken off on top of that?

Thanks

From the FAQ:
May I upgrade my free one day ticket to an Annual Pass or multi-day ticket?

Yes, you may upgrade the free ticket to another ticket type of greater value within the applicable upgrade window. However, you are responsible for the incremental cost and the new ticket may only be used by you. No changes or refunds will be given. The value of the free ticket may not be used to combine or upgrade with a separate single or multi-day ticket.

May I use the value of the free one-day ticket toward the renewal of my Annual Pass or Passport?

Yes, the value of the free ticket may be used to renew your Annual Pass or Passport within the applicable renewal window. You are responsible for any additional costs owed and no change or refunds will be given.

I'm confused about 'applicable renewal window'. My ap expires in early Sept..I am going in may and late October..does this mean I can't use it? Is the window a month?

The renewal window for an AP is 30 days prior to expiration and up to 30 days after the pass has expired.

Here's one for the experts . . . my AP expires the end of this month. I just completed my day of service, so I'll have a voucher in a couple of weeks. I know (from the response above) that I can use the voucher towards the cost of an annual pass, but can I do that remotely (via mail, MS, etc) or would I have to renew in person?

Call and ask. My understanding us that all upgrades (which is really what you would be doing) must be done in person on site.

I'm sorry so the extra money will be taken off the DVC rate not just the regular rate of an annual pass, correct?

Correct. The one day ticket will be applied to the final cost of the AP which will be the DVC discounted price. Just remember to take your blue dvc membership card and photo id.

Thank you...it's been a LLOOONNGG day! :lmao:

confused....
so what would be the final price of an AP w the voucher amount taken off for a dvc member??
We were considering an 8 day ticket for our stay instead of an AP but we do have vouchers coming??

I think i figured this out now..
would be
$489 for adult AP
-100 for dvc discount
-79 for one day ticket voucher GAD program
$310 plus tax for AP ...

looks like we are better off upgrading to a multi day ticket for 8 days instead of AP

How will these run out? If I have a volunteer date - am I gauranteed a voucher or might they all be gone? If I have my voucher but am not goig to Disney till Dec - will it still work?
Thanks

..and here's another question. We will go in May (DLR) with our DAP. The Saturday of our stay is blocked, so we could just use our vouchers to get in that day, right?

I work for a non-profit that is involved in this program and I was part of a conference call about the program. Someone asked this very question and we were told that once you confirm your volunteer experience, you are guaranteed to get your voucher, assuming you complete your volunteering as scheduled. We were also told that Disney is considering giving out more than the original 1 million tickets since the response has been SO HUGE!

I posted 1 volunteer opportunity with about 12 openings and received well over 50 emails from people wanting to volunteer!

We are signed up to volunteer on Feb 10 at a food bank. The girl there said she has been overwhelmed with GAD responses so we were lucky to get a slot. We have AP's that expire in May but we're going in March. We don't have any other trips booked to FL right now so were not planning on renewing our AP's. Our plan is to use the vouchers for the special fast pass cards instead. Disney has no way of knowing that's our plan though. I think they should've had us choose a designation for our vouchers at the time we signed up so they'd know how many would be doing what.:confused3 They have to just be counting the number of vouchers given out.

There's been lots of threads about this on the Strategies board too. My advice would be to sign up for a volunteer activity & get it confirmed sooner rather than later so you can get a voucher before they run out.

That's good to know! We did our volunteering today!

We did our volunteering last week Thurs and the vouchers showed up in email yesterday. Very easy and efficient.

Just wanted to tell about my experience today. Applied my voucher towards pass renewal, my renewal date is Apr 30, and today is Mar 7. So you don't have to be within 30 days, if you are renewing earlier.

Did you get the extra 3 months? Do you mind me asking how much the final cost was? We are planning to do this in July. Thanks for the info!
