I am a bonafide sissy when it comes to sleeping in the great outdoors! Does the Fort Wilderness offer something like campers or mobile homes if you don't bring your own?

I don't necessarily need a cabin, but I definitely don't want to sleep in a tent where only heaven knows what can join you!

The cabins are the only rental accomodations nowadays. When I was a kid in the 1970's, we camped every summer. Back then, if you didn't have your own trailer (we did) you could rent one from WDW. I can remember them in the FW brochure. These are no longer available; instead there are lots of cabins for rent. The cabins are very nice and can be had for good rates with discount codes. If you want to rent an RV, you will have to do this BEFORE arriving at FW. There is a camping board here on the DIS and I imagine those folks could help you with info on camping equipment rental.

The cabins are great. Roomy with a bath and kitchen, sleeping for 4-6, air-conditioned and the maids come daily. Now that's my idea of camping out!

Our family of five (2 adults/3 kids) stayed in a cabin last year. I would not call the accommodations luxurious but they are far from rustic. There are two rooms plus the bath. The bed room had a queen and bunk with a dresser and closet. The living room/kitchen had a couch, chairs, two side table/dressers and a queen murphy bed. The kitchen side was fully equipped with table and bench seating. We had plenty of room. There is a deck attached to the cabin with a grill and picnic table. There was a cable cord in the bedroom , but no TV, just the one in LR when we were there. I never asked about it, didn’t really need it..

The accommodations were good and it was nice having all the room. Transportation took more time then other places, because we had to take a bus to catch a bus or boat. The schedule was regular but at 9 PM it was no fun with 3 tired kids.

We did have a very relaxing dinner at the causal restaurant there one night when we got off the boat. It was a nice change from the bussel of the parks.
