Question about the ferry at POR

Does anyone know if family members(not staying at the resort) are allowed to take the ferry with us to Downtown Disney. We will be staying at POR in September and my aunt and uncle who live in Titusville want to drive over one evening and meet for dinner. We thought it would be fun to have them meet us at the resort and take the ferry together to DD. Is the ferry strictly for resort guests or can others pay a fare and ride also? Thanks!

In my experience, whenever we would stay at POR, they have never checked for hotel ID before you board, so they would never know. I don't know if there are any "rules" to using the ferry that say that you must be a resort guest, but none of the "captains" have ever asked proof of stay at POR.

They may join you on the boat to DTD. Noone will question them.
