Question about the exercise room on Magic

My DW doesn't remember what the equipment is in the exercise room on the Magic. She remembers that there were treadmills - can anyone detail what else there is?

With all the Chocolate Souffles from Palo's, I'm thinking I'm gonna have to exercise so I don't gain 15 pounds in 7 days.

Thanks,

The DH in the ZitoFamily

About 6 treadmills, basic machines for resistance training, full free weight dumbell selection. Overall pretty limited but not often busy. Jogging on deck 5 (4?) is much more pleasant and productive. if your on 10-9 western DW and I will see you there.

I'm not a jogger or treadmiller - wondering specifically if they have stationary bikes.

Thanks!

From looksmart.com:

The gym features the Cybex VR2 line of strength-training equipment; Cybex Reactor machines; Cybex treadmills and upright and semi-recumbent bikes; Tectrix virtual reality stair climbers; free weights, and a Smith press machine. Staff lead aerobic classes, walks, water-exercise programs, personal training, and fitness analysis.

The Promenade Deck offers a quarter-mile for walking or jogging while the Sports Deck features basketball, paddle tennis, volleyball, anal badminton.

There's no mention of ellipticals in there, but my understanding is that there are elliptical machines; if not, I will weigh 500 pounds when we get off the ship.

Anal badminton? Never played that as a kid. Ouch, does it hurt?

;)

LOL!

I cut and pasted, I swear!!! :Pinkbounc

That is possibly the funniest thing I've seen all week. I can't believe I posted it without reading closely! ::blush::

ROFL!!!

I am glad to hear that the exercise equipment is so good. I never thought that I would plan to do this on a vacation but I have just started working out & I am afraid that if I let myself go, I will lose all of the hard work that I am putting into this.

Hi,
I just got off the 9/11 Magic and used the room almost everyday. I can confirm that there were at least six treadmills. There were also four elliptical machines---two with arms, two without. Personally I found it best to get up early (around 7) and run the promenade deck (the sign stated that it was 1/3 mile but I've heard 1/4 from other sources---which is correct???) and then top it off with 20 minutes on the elliptical. Both locations were not busy at this time. That said, with all the food options, I still put on about 7 pounds that I've now got to get busy and shed...

Good luck and happy eating-exercising-eating-exercising...

Thanks for the confirmation! I also do the run-elliptical combination; I never thought of running on the deck, but that could be a nice change of pace/scenery.

Do you recall how many weight machines were in the room?

Lisa, do try to work out at least twice on a 7 day cruise. Otherwise, you'll notice some fitness slipping after a week of not working out. My dh and I have struggled because of the hurricanes and no electricity, and keep feeling like we're back at square 1 after a week of no power at the gym!

As I don't generally use the weight machines I didn't pay much attention to them. From what I recall they had a small selection of machines that would probably cover most muscle groups. I don't recall them being very busy.

One thing I liked about running the promenade deck was that as you entered the covered fore and aft ends of the ship you were hit with a blast of refreshing cool air.

ROFL! This is hysterical!

But on a serious note...if we can find one - LOL - anybody ever take any exercise classes on board? Any you'd recommend?

Once again my old beef about the exercise room, NO KIDS allowed.
On a family cruise? I can understand restrictions on hours of use.
My 17 year old is on the Varsity baseball team, we cruised New Years week this year on the Magic, and he was hoping to continue his weight training on board since conditioning for baseball started the day he got back to school.
He was not allowed in. They did have 2 30 minute sessions for kids, but ONLY the kids in the clubs, and both sessions were at 8:30 at night......and we had late seating for dinner and wanted to eat together as a family.

:hyper: :rotfl: :rotfl: :jumping1: Laughed out loud and hard on that one-kids asked what was so funny!
thanks for the smile!
