What is the age that children are allowed to check themselves out?

Our DD 9 was allowed to sign herself out, but we had to give her permission to do so first. DS 5 was not allowed to sign out.

I think sign in/out priviledges begin with the 8-9 group

That's right, it is 8 or older, with your permission, of course.

I knew last year, our son could sign himself out, but our daughter could not. She has just turned 8, so I wasn't sure.
