I read on another site that you can take this tour even if you aren't staying at the Grand Californian. Is this true? I think it would be neat to see if we had time to do it. Anyone know?

Any reviews from someone who has gone on the hotel tour? Thanks!

Wait, I just found this about it on a Disney Parks blog from 2010. I wonder if it's still valid?

Someone asked in the comments; "I love the Grand Californian and would love to go on this tour. Is it open to the public or would I have to be a guest of the hotel?"

This was the response from Heather Hust Rivera with Walt Disney Company on August 10th, 2010; "Yes, the tour is open to the public. You do not need to be a guest of the hotel."

Here's a link to the old blog - http://disneyparks.disney.go.com/bl...nces-for-disneys-grand-californian-hotel-spa/

Yes, wisest to sign up ahead of time, because only a certain number of people can go.
I have been on it 2-3 times, DH goes every visit, so maybe 10-12 times now.
Very interesting tour.

It is true. I asked that exact question last week, and anyone is welcome on the tour. The recommended minimum age is 14, since younger guests might be bored. The tour is at 1PM (Sun, Mon, Thurs, Fri) and lasts an hour. Sign up in advance at Guest Services in the Grand Californian lobby.

It is an excellent tour, pointing out many design details and custom made art pieces.

As Nonsuch said, you can take the tour without being a hotel guest, but if you don't sign up in advance and no one else does, they may cancel it. So stop by (or call the concierge) and book your slot as soon as you can.

It's a great tour. My DD was 3 when my Dad took her and she was bored and just wanted to run down the hallways, so keep that in mind :)
