Question about Thanksgiving week

We are going to Orlando the week of Thanksgiving. We will be staying in a timeshare the 16th through the 23rd and are planing to stay onsite the weekend after Thanksgiving which I read can be busy. We will have FOTL passes if we stay onsite. My question is how many days do we need to allot to see both parks. My husband and I went last May and found 2 days to be plenty, but we will be taking 3 children ages 12, 7, 6 on their first trip. We've never been during the holiday week before and was wondering if we need to allot more than 2 days due to the crowds. I just need to know whether to book one night (for two days of FOTL) or two (for three days of FOTL) at the onsite hotel. If we booked one night we would be staying somewhere else, but have no idea where that somewhere else would be. Possibly one night at Disney to go to The Very Merry Christmas Party. Sorry we are just now in the planning stage.

Also, which hotel do you recommend for these age groups? The family is divided on where to stay. My husband is retired military so we can get discount tickets and I'm thinking we shouldn't do a package, but if I am wrong in the assumption, then please correct me. We will be doing other activities while in Orlando because we have Platinum passes to Sea World/Busch Gardens and the youngest is wanting to do Lego Land. Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

If you do 2 days onsite (3 days st the parks) you will have plenty of time to go back and do your favorites and it will make for a nice relaxing trip. Also, the hotels offer a military discount but you MUST call the hotel and ask for it. It is not available online
