What sort of identification is necessary to prove that you are a teacher? My husband has been a teacher for the past 5 years in a Catholic school system but he doesn't have any sort of teacher's certificate. Can we still use the discount? If so, what would he need to prove he's a teacher?

When I made my reservations, I was told by the woman there to bring a copy of my teaching license, to use as identification. Is your husband licensed? I don't know about other states, but here in NC, you can still get a teaching license, even though you teach in a private school, not public.
Cheers!

Thanks for replying. I may just have never heard of it, but I don't think MA has teacher's licenses. All I've heard of are teaching certificates. Either way, my husband doesn't have one. Thanks anyways....

Hi kewrobel105, If your husband is involved in the education system you can book through Dreams Unlimited Travel. Dreams Unlimited Travel is an advertiser on this web site and it's advertising dollars helps support these informational boards.

What you will need is a letter on the Schools letterhead explaining he is employed with the school. This will cover all administrative people that work in the school system as well. IE. substitute teachers , teachers aids, office personel, administrative workers.

Another way to qualify for a discount is if you are in a school system and it is a town or county school system you draw a pay check from the local government so you fall under the Government discount and would need a similar letter on the town or government letterhead or a valid government Id.

Both discounts are equal to each other in getting the lower rate.

I've just shown my school ID card, but if your husband is in a private school, he may not have one.

It's also possible he may just have to show a pay stub from his paycheck. If the pay stub just has the Diocese's name on it, I would go with a letter from the principal. You may want to call to double check with the the Dolphin. Sometimes such discounts only apply to public school teachers.

Hi kewrobel105, Just to update the discount I have confirmed with the hotel as far as booking through the Dreams Unlimited Travel site. The above requirements are exactly what has been told to me by the wholesale dept at reservations for this type situation. This is what was recommended to bring with you. What you will need is a letter on the Schools letterhead explaining he is employed with the school and a valid picture id ie. drivers license.

One thing I forgot earlier to mention was that the nurses discount now includes LPN Nurses as well as RN's. A license is required to show at check-in for that discount.

He will be able to get a letter on the school's letterhead and show his pay stub (though you are right, it is from the diocese and not the school so not as helpful). I know his student's have ID's. Maybe he can obtain one somehow also. Thanks for all of your help! ::MickeyMo
