Question about switching resorts

Hi

We're going to be at POR (MYW package w/ FD) from 11/15 - 11/25 and then we're doing a room only for two nights at Art of Animation.

I've never stayed at more than one resort during a trip, so I'm wondering how this works.

When I check out of POR on the 25th, do I take all my luggage over to AoA? If so, how? We're not renting a car, so we're relying solely on WDW transportation.

Will bell services take my luggage? Will it be a long process?

On the 25th, I have ADR @ CRT in MK at ten in the morning. Do I need to come back right away to check out of POR and get over to AoA to meet my luggage?

Argh.. I'm so full of questions. Maybe I should call instead of bothering DISers?

Any advice is appreciated. TIA

Bell services will transfer it. You just have to deal with check out and in.

Don't worry about rushing, the luggage will be there when you arrive.

I'd check out before you go to your ADR then you can go and check-in after CRT or if you have enough time go check in at AoA before your ADR then enjoy the park til your room is ready. Make sure to call for your luggage once you get a room they won't bring it automatically (unless that's changed)

Thanks for the replies! I'll try to get it all done early... or else we'll come back after our brunch and check in then.

Thanks so much!

As mentioned, POR Bell Service will come to your room and pick up your luggage, There is a button on the phone for Bell Service. Just call when you're ready for pick up. They were at our room in 10 min from calling. They come with a Surrey truck thing, with a couple of bench seats, and cargo area, so they can take you and your luggage to the Lobby Bell Service desk.

We prefer to take a cab with our luggage to new resort, so Bell Service will call a cab for you too. You can request a taxi van, to accom. the luggage, same price as car taxi. We check into new resort, and leave our luggage with the Bell service there if our room isn't ready.

Either way, it's easy.

I just wanted to add that if you use bell services to transfer your luggage, they will not arrive at AoA until later in the afternoon so you'll need to plan accordingly.

Thank you! This is good to know. Just like Magical Express. I will be using bell services for that, rather than hiring a taxi.

Also, check what time "check-out" is. I think it's 11 am, in which case you need to check out and leave your luggage at bell services BEFORE your 10 am ADR. You won't be back before 11 am.

Since your luggage won't be available at your second resort 'til possibly late afternoon, make sure to keep aside things you might need, such as medicine, etc.

One piece of advice - when you arrive at the airport if you don't have too much luggage take them with you when you get on the "Magical Express". We have found that it sometimes takes them quite a while to deliver the luggage and one time when we arrive late - it wasn't delivered until the next morning so we had nothing to wash up and sleept with....

If you are dining at CRT as part of your free dining package, I would not check out of POR first. We did something similar this past January and ran into trouble. We had a free dining package at POFQ, checked out and checked into BLT renting DVC points. When we ate at Chef Mickey's that evening, we were told that our account had been closed out and we did not have any dining credits available. I thought that dining credits were good until midnight of the day of checkout, but was told that is not the case when checking into another Disney hotel. The manager at Chef Mickey's was eventually able to get everything worked out, but for about 20 minutes we thought we were going to be out the cost of a very expensive meal.

Wow, that must have been stressful! I have never heard of that happening.
That sounds like a mistake was made, and/or they were making up an excuse for it, because the credits are good to midnight regardless.
And, if there were a glitch, the problem would be checking IN then, not checking out.
She has to check out before she leaves, because of check out time, but she doesn't have to check in till she is done with her ADR that morning.

It is not true that your credits were gone because you were checking into another resort. Even if thats's what you were told, it's not true. Sounds like someone just making up an excuse for an error.

Thank you all for the advice and replies.

I actually decided that it'd be more cost effective if we just extended the FD package to 11/27 and stay at POR.

This way, we won't have to worry about switching or bell services or meals. I weighed that against paying for our meals out of pocket for those last two days, and the price difference was within $100 once it was all said and done. Worth it to us, if only for the convenience.
