question about switching hotels during stay

I am wondering we have one night stay booked and we are thinking of adding another night, but no room is available, so we would have to switch hotels, my questions are:
Do you have to get new magic bands for a stay in a different hotel?
And if you do the online check in, do you by pass the front desk totally and can just go to your new room.

No need for new bands if you switch hotels. Your reservations should be linked to your band before you arrive.

As for online check in, you should get a text informing you of your room number once it's ready, so you should be able to go straight to your room.

I agree there is no need for a second Magic Band. But unless you decline one you will be sent two. You have 2 distinct reservations. And you will have to check out of resort 1 by 11AM & your new room very well may not be ready until after 3PM to checkin to.
Whether you bypass the front desk or not depends on many factors. You have to include a credit card in online checkin to bypass the desk. Some folks are texted their new room number, some are not.

And although you can decline the second magic band, you could just make them two different colors. Then you could decide which to where.

Always, always, always stop by the front desk. Always. Sometimes credit cards don't connect, sometimes using the same magic band is a problem and some times the phone number to get that text isn't set up. Always. It takes 5 minutes unless there is a technical problem.
