Question about staying on property and Extra Magic Hours

I hope you all can help me out with this question. In Jan I had a package that included a 9 day PH. I didn't use all the days so I paid to make it so it wouldn't expire. So now I have a 5 day PH on a paper ticket for my next visit.

Here's the question, for Extra Magic Hours will that paper ticket work? In the past my room key was also my ticket to the park. So my next trip will be different. No vacation package, just a room on property (ASMu). I'm so confused. :confused3

Your paper ticket gets you into the park. At the park front entrance after the turnstyles, there are people set up to provide wrist bands to those guests who are staying on site for EMH. All you will have to have is a room key plus your park admission. You will have the paper ticket in addition to your room key this time. The room key is neccesary to prove you as an on site guest. The paper ticket is just your admission to the park this time around. Once you show the room key they will give you a wrist band and you are off!

This is the way it used to work. They no longer issue wristbands. Every guest must show his/her resort ID when getting in line for an attraction or when entering a park after the posted closing time to non-resort guests. If you have a valid resort ID, you can still use paper tickets to get in.

I wonder if they can just add your tickets to your room key upon checking in? Although honestly it isn't that big of a deal b/c during EMH they will ask you to show your room key in line anyway. At least they did for us - it was more for evening. I didn't notice it for morning as much.

As stated you just have to show your room key at the ride.
But FYI - if you think it would be easier, when you check in, you can ask them to put the paper ticket onto your KTTW card.

Just go to the front desk and ask them to add your paper ticket onto your KTTW card! We just did this on our last trip; I had tickets from 2002 with 5 days left on them and the concierge was able to transfer them to our room card. So much better than carrying a key and a paper ticket ;)

I agree about having them add your remaining days of your previous tickets onto your new KTTW card after you check-in.

Awesome! Thank you all so much for your help. I think I will have them put the ticket on my KTTW card.

So it sounds like it's staying on property that gets you the extra magic hours, not necessarily purchasing a vacation package. I'm very glad to hear that!

we have never kept our tickets on our KTTW... we always have paper tickets... and yes it's one more thing to carry, but we have always kept them separate and never had an issue anywhere. so unless you are worried of losing/ripping the paper tix, i wouldn't worry too much about putting it on your new KTTW. Personal preference really! :D

Extra Magic hours are for guests staying on Disney Property. It doesn't matter where you got your park ticket, but you do have to stay on WDW property.
