Question about SSR/OKW and adding a night

Hi all!
The first part of my question is about what resort (SSR OR OKW) do you think I would have the best chance of getting 3 studios close together? We dont need to be like right next door, but both resorts are rather large and in the same building would be great! I have OKW booked for 3 studios with FD for Sept 6-10 right now. SSR is available too, for the same price.
The second part is adding a night. Thinking about coming in a day before, well really night. Flights are a lot cheaper and we would get an extra day of meals, and get to do Epcot EMH Thursday. We wouldnt get park tickets as we would get in around 10pm. Dilemma: adding that day just to sleep is $400 a night (379), and for 3 rooms that adds up.
Should we just book that one night at an all star? We'd lose the added dining meals but would save in the long run. Just so confused as to how to even do a split stay. Does Disney handle your luggage?

Disney will move your luggage and keep your fridge/freezer items in appropriate storage. The transferred items will be available from bell services after 4 or 5 pm. It's a great option especially if you were planning on a park for your first full day. Get up, call bell services to transfer your luggage, and you're off to the parks.

I believe you'll need to stop by the front desk of the first resort to check-out in order for our MBs to switch over to the new resort.

As far as the 3 rooms ... I'm going with OKW only because it's not as spread out as SSR.

I can't help with all of your questions, but I can tell you that we had no issue getting two one bedroom units ALMOST next to each other at SSR. I don't think they can make any guarantees, but they'll probably make an effort.

We also ran into the same issue with flights being cheaper one day earlier. Our flight arrives at MCO around 9pm and we decided to just stay at the Hyatt Regency Airport. It's still not cheap, but cheaper than another night at a resort and we will be able to roll right into bed when we arrive and be fresh for our first park the next day. The convenience won out for us!

I agree with you. SSR buildings are much bigger and have more rooms than OKW buildings do. I would think the could get you in one building easily. One thing I didn’t like about OKW was riding in the bus to all the stops. The roads there are windy and you get tossed side to side a bit. The resort is nice, the rooms are big. We will definitely stay there again. Also OKW is in the middle of a refurbishment and numerous buildings are being worked on at once. This reduces the number of rooms at the resort, making your request more difficult. SSR I think is going to start a refurbishment in 2019.

I prefer OKW overall. Never a problem with the buses for us. I also like the two bed in OKW but don't know the makeup of your party. I would probably staff somewhere else also that first night.

I've never had an issue getting 2 to 3 rooms either in the same building or adjacent buildings at OKW. Remember that OKW studios have 2 real queen beds, and SSR has a queen bed and a sleeper sofa, if that makes any difference. As for the first night, I don't know what the hotel at the airport charges, but you could stay there the first night and take DME to OKW the next morning. Just remember that you'd need to collect and tote your own luggage if you stay at the airport.

Otherwise, the most economical would be staying at a Disney value, and remember since it is a late check-in, you won't have your luggage that first night if you have DME deliver it no matter where you stay, so you'll need a carry one with necessities for that first night, so I'd just use the luggage tags for OKW and let it go directly there from the airport.

There aren't very many studios next to each other at OKW, just in a few of the buildings. Most are located at the ends of the building. So you might get three, one on top of the other, one at the end of the building and two at the other end. If you are really lucky.
