Question about split stays

My family is checking into Pop Century on the 27th of May. We will be there for 4 nights then move to the Wilderness Lodge. These are room only reservations. According to the My reservations page online, the balance due for both hotels is the 27th of May. Assuming that we will be paying the balance on arrival day, will we be paying in full for both hotels at Pop Century? I think this is right but I am quite unsure. We have never been to DW with a split stay.

We always do split-stays but I believe that we pay each hotel when we check in. I don't think you would have to pay for both on May 27th -- that just doesn't make sense to me with a room-only reservation. :confused3

As the pp said, the balance for the WL isn't due until you check into the WL. I would check each room reservation confirmation as that would show the date due (which should be the check in date for each resort). Disney doesn't see your reservation as a split stay, but rather 2 separate reservations, so the amount due is separate for each resort and should not be due all at once at the first check in.

The above is correct. I jsut did a room only split stay last month & you pay the balance on resort #1 there, then the balance at resort #2 at that one.

Thanks for the responses, I checked online again and the resort dates are correct for both Pop and WL. This whole thing is a surprise to my wife for our anniversary. We do not normally splurge for a deluxe hotel at Disney, we aren't in the room that much. I tacked on the days at Wilderness Lodge with no park tickets just for some time to be together. We are both teachers and it has been a rough school year for the both of us. I plan on waking up the day of the move and telling her to pack her bags. Then pack up and drive over to the Wilderness Lodge. She thinks we are leaving and she has already tried to make some plans the day after our "return". That was hard to dodge but I have managed by talking to her friend who conveniently is having some "relatives" over at her place. Just a little white lie. I am also surprising her with the dessert party. She will love it as she is a chocoholic. Sorry for the lengthy response but it's hard not to talk about all of this. It's killing me not telling her but she will love the surprise. I just don't want the surprise to be given away when we check in at Pop. Thanks again for your responses.

What a thoughtful surprise for your wife :). Have a great anniversary trip and enjoy the WL.....it's a beautiful resort and your wife will love it :goodvibes.

Aw...this retired teacher understands the need for some R & R after a rough year. Y'all will love relaxing at Wilderness!

Hope the secret stays a secret! (and waving to you in Cleveland, TN from Memphis)

Sounds like a great plan and no don't have to pay the remainder on the WL reservation until you check in :)

Just fyi the difference between a 5 day ticket and a 6 or 7 day ticket is only $8 per day - but you would have to upgrade prior to using up that 5th day. OTOH there is plenty to do at WL if you decide to just relax !
