Question about split stay...

which might not really be a split stay if I can book the same hotel it would just be 2 separate reservations. We are currently booked for 14 days in Sept. and I am considering adding 2 more days at the start of our trip. If I add the extra 2 days we wouldn't need park tickets (and I wouldn't want my 14 day time to start either on the tickets which is why I would do a separate reservation) or dining (The first night we get in really late and I am thinking about doing a day trip to Universal - We're not interested in stay at a Universal hotel)

Long story - My question is since my 2nd reservation check in time is at 4:00 what time would my dining and park tickets start on our 2nd check in day? Could we go to the parks that morning even though I couldn't technically check in until 4:00?

You can check in any time, day of reservation, after the computers switch over, which I have read is anywhere from 6 - 7 am. It is only that rooms are not expected to be ready before 4 pm, although they may be ready much earlier or later than that time.

So, day of your new reservation, after the computer switch over that morning, you would be able to access your dining and park tickets. I am not sure if you would need to go down and officially check in or not. I do know that with 2 different reservations, there is the slight possibility that you would need to change rooms, especially if you do not reserve the same type of room for both stays.

Direct to Room check-in is now in effect if you have completed the online check-in prior to your stay.

On your online check-in info, choose the earliest arrival that is listed and your park tickets, meal plan, and resort stay will be activated before your listed arrival time. You shouldn't have any problems at breakfast as everything will be activated in your MDE account.

That is very helpful. Thank you.

I figured the worst case scenario would be if we have to switch hotels and even at that I've heard you can leave your luggage with bell service and they will transfer it for you. I was just concerned with being able to hit the parks that morning rather than wait till the afternoon.

I know you said you weren't interested in staying at a Universal hotel, but the front of the line pass you get when you stay onsite is awesome.

Dining is activated when you check in, so you have to check in to the second reservation before you can use any dining credits.

Tickets purchased with a package can be activated at Guest Services up to three days in advance of your reservation.
