Question about Specific Months Code Watches

Hi, all. I'm relatively new to this board and I have what is probably a dumb question.

I see lots of threads titled "[Month] Code Watch" -- e.g., February Code Watch.

When I look at those threads, however, it appears that most of the people on them have already booked their trips for that particular month. So are you looking for a code that would possibly allow you to cancel and re-book at a lower rate? Or am I missing something and they are threads for people that haven't booked yet, but want to go in that particular month? (Or is it something entirely else?)

We are looking to go to Disney in February 2010 and am obviously intrigued by any potential deals that may be out there, but I don't quite understand how all of this works.

Basically, the people who have already booked are planning on rebooking if a suitable code comes out. They have already booked in their room category in case no code is released, or it doesn't apply to them. Some resorts and room categories actually do sell out, or will not be available for certain dates. Therefore, by booking in advance they have the room they want.

For the Threads it doesn't really matter you can subscribe to any thread and check it for updates. If a code is released then it will be discussed on that thread and you can then call and check availability for what you want. Then, it is up to you whether you want to utilize the code, or keep your original reservation.
If you don't have a ressie already, then you just call and check availability of the code.

Another reason for booking a reservation before codes are released is because you already have your airline ticket, so you know you will be going at a specific time. It just guarantees you have a room reservation no matter what.

Thanks! I guess I didn't think that Disney would let you rebook with a better offer -- or can you only do rebook if it is before the cancellation period?
