Question about Southwest's website

When booking a flight on Southwest.com, if it just says a 1 or a 2 in the "stops" column, is there any way to know where the plane stops? I can't see anywhere that it says. I guess I could call and ask one of their reps on the phone but I'd rather avoid that if I could.

Thanks!

If it shows the stops, it's just a stop and that means you would just stay on the plane. I'm not sure where, if anywhere, it tells you where the stop is exactly. I've only ever flown non-stop so far with SW.

If you see a code and a number (i.e. BWI/1 or is it 1/BWI?) that means you'd change planes (in this example at Baltimore-Washington).

Liz .... great question! I would like to know this too. I want to know where I'm stopping before I book!

If you go to the flight status link at the bottom of their homepage, and put in your departure city and the flight number, you'll be able to see where the first stop is.

If your plane makes more than one stop, you'll probably have to call SWA @ 1-800-435-9792 (1-800-I-FLY-SWA)

Thanks for the info! I ended up calling SW this morning when the new dates come out. I wanted to avoid going through Chicago and was able to find out the flight I was just ready to book did indeed stop there. So I switched to another one. Thanks again!

You can also figure out where stops are by downloading the flight schedule for your departure city (Travel Tools>Schedules>Download Schedule in PDF Format) and looking for the NS flight from your departure city that has the same flight number. If your flight makes more than 1 stop you'll have to get the flight schedule for the city where you make the first stop and look for the NS flight from there that has your flight number. Another way is to go to a flight-tracking website and input the flight number - you will get data on each leg of that flight so you'll know where the stops are.

Was there are particular reason why you wanted to avoud Chicago's Midway Airport?

O'Horror airport can be a nightmare, but SW has a very good on-time record, and utilizing Midway is a key reason why.

I just wanted to avoid Chicago (and any northern airport if I could) due to the possibility of severe winter weather. We are traveling over Christmas.

That makes tons of sense, so I hope that you were able to go through either Nashville or St. Louis.

We are going through St. Louis. I have no idea what their winter weather is like so I hope it'll be okay! I just have the worst luck! Last year we hadn't had snow for a couple of weeks but the morning we left Salt Lake City there was a pretty bad storm! Luckily we made it to Orlando on time!!

I'm trying to do the same thing from the west coast. :thumbsup2

No NWA flights through Minneapolis, no Delta flights through Cinci or Salt Lake and no Frontier flights through Denver for us!

Since we're starting out in Salt Lake we're pretty much stuck with that one but I do try to avoid other northern cities! Good luck!

Well at least Northwest has a hub in Memphis, which is also the national transition point and headquarters for that lovely little company that we all know as Fedex!!!!

I have wondered this too and just click on it as if I'm going to purchase that flight. Before you get to the page where you enter pax names and cc info, it will display the city where it stops.
Usually if there are 2 flight #'s then you would have to change planes. If there's only 1 flight # and a stop, you can stay on the plane and they will just pick up more pax.
hope this helps:goodvibes

My sister lives just outside St. Louis and their winter weather can be tough sometimes too, but not quite like Chicago. They did have a pretty bad ice storm last winter, but that could mean an easier winter this year. Hopefully all will go smoothly for you!

Thanks for the info! I guess all this is just the chance we take by traveling in the winter.
