question about southwest

There is a really good price right now for my trip. The question is what if this price changes and comes down even more? Do I get a refund? Can I cancel tickests and buy new ones at the better rate? If I find the price diffenence will they credit my visa?

YOu can definitely change, or rebook and get a credit that must be used with one year of original booking date. Some people report getting refunds or their credit chards credited, but personally I've never tried for that. The SWA credits are so easy to use I just save for a future booking.

Southwest is like all other airlines in this aspect. If you book a nonrefundable ticket and find out later that the ticket price is cheaper, there's nothing you or SW can do about it.
So the question that you have to ask yourself is, Is the current price good enough to go ahead and book now? Or do you think you should hold off and chance the flight being sold out?

Southwest is so much better than all the other airlines when it comes to rebooking if the price of the flight goes down. You can change the flight yourself online and use the credit towards another flight within a year. There's no charge to rebook! Their on-line system won't let you rebook the same flight, so what I've done is switch to another flight on the same day, and then switch back to my original flight.

NOT EVEN SLIGHTLY TRUE. Unlike other airlines SW will issue you a credit for the differrence without any service fee or charge. Under some circumstances you can even get a credit on your credit card. You can cancel your flight and get a credit toward future travel within a year. You only pay the difference in fare.

I wish people wouldn't post when they don't have the slightest idea what they're talking about.

Southwest is one of the most accomodating airlines when it comes to credits.

Theywill credit you for future travel of if you take the time to call them, you can usually get a refund.

Now if only they could assign seats!

Last year a lady I work with purchased tickets thru sw and later they went on sale and they gave her a credit and in return she sold me 4 roundtrip tickets to Orlando for $300. She didn't plan on going anywhere within the year and so it would've been money she was out and she saved us $ in the long run.

As of right now I have a $360 credit with SWA - now when to use it!! What a dilemma to be in! I had booked the beginning of Dec for our Jan flights at what I thought was a great deal ($811 for 6 people) Well, the next week the price had dropped to $451 for the 6 of us. I just called them up and told them of the price drop and they credited my account and reissued our tickets showing the credit. I was then told if I wanted to get the money credited to my CC I would just have to call back after I returned home and they would gladly do so.

So, as you can see they are very accomodating and as with Lewisc - please try to respond with accurate information. A lot of people use these boards for planning a dream vacation and at times it can be stressful and conflicting advice just adds to the stress.
