Question about southwest airlines rapid rewards

I recently signed up for the chase southwest visa to get the 50,000 bonus points. I know you also get points on dollars spent. I see where you can do online shopping through rapid rewards and earn points. If you do the online shopping and pay with chase visa...do you get both the points for shopping through southwest and the visa reward points?

Yes, you will get the points for both. Think of it as if you were using any other shopping portal (like ebates or mypoints). You would get the points/rewards/rebate from the shopping portal website but Chase (not Southwest) will still award you 1 pt./$ spent on your Visa card. The Southwest shopping portal is not different.

Just be sure to read the "fine print" if you're using an online coupon code. When you enter a website through SWA.com, it may state something like "Points are not awarded if using a coupon not found on our website." or something to that effect. I know with Kohls any coupon greater than 15% will void any points earned.
I also recall with vitaminshoppe.com they emailed me a $10 off $75 coupon but it was a different code than the same discount offered through SWA.com.
Just something to consider.

I really wish Amazon participated. Man, I'd get free flights every month.

You can also earn points by dining at participating restaurants simply by registering any cc with that website. Just pay your bill with that card and you earn points. It's great but we don't eat out very often.
