Question about SoCal Pass with parking

I'm about to purchase SoCal passes for the family...me, hubby and kids 5 and 3. Hubby and I work different schedules, so we're thinking that sometimes one of us may bring the kids without the other spouse.

We're going to purchase one of the passes with parking. Since the kids will always be there, but sometimes it will be me and sometimes it will be my husband, can we assign the pass with parking to one of the kids...even though they are 3 or 5?

I can't imagine why they would have a problem with this, but I wanted to see if anyone has done this before.....

Also....I'm planning on purchasing the lowest level SoCal pass, but knowing that if we want to go on a Sunday, that I would upgrade the pass later on for $40 each....I'm assuming SoCal passes are upgradable just like AP's are?

thanks!

Nancy

Your parking question is an excellent question and so many people don't do this one "right," in my opinion.

The short answer to your question is, "Yes."

We have friends with young kids. Sometimes G-parents take them, sometimes Mom and Dad take them, but the kids ALWAYS are included. So.... the kids have the parking on their passes and no one else does. As long as they are in the car, the parking applies.

They got it for both girls so when everyone goes (with more than 1 car), 1 girl goes in each car and everyone has parking!

Great question. Smart thinking.

I BELIEVE the answer to this is that, yes, you can add a blockout day for $40, but this is NOT an upgrade. It's just giving you entrance on a day that you would not otherwise be able to go. Others here know more about the SoCal pass than I do as we have always just had the Premium. Hopefully someone else will clarify this part for you.

This is how we did it. DS 4 1/2 has parking on his pass, so we're covered if he goes with me, DH or both of us. We rarely go without him, so it just made sense to us to do it this way.

When we went on a blackout day last June I specifically asked about putting that $40 towards upgrading and the CM at the ticket counter said "YES" that you can definitely use your $40 towards an upgrade if you chose to do that.

I too put the parking my my DD9's AP this year. We got the So Cal Select.

When we pull up at the parking booth I usually have her hand the pass to the parking attendant ( I roll down the back window). If not, I still roll down the window so they can see her. They always look. :goodvibes

Yes, as long as the person who has the parking on their AP is there in the vehicle it would be fine. Good thinking.

I always get the parking on the AP option for myself and it is well worth it in simple convenience. Plus, I think you tend to go more when the parking thing doesn't require the $12 hit each visit as we often visit for a few hours on a weekday or evening.

My DS has the parking on his pass. I usually take him, but sometimes my DH does as well as my inlaws. :)
