My DD and I both have pretty bad asthma that is very aggravated by cigarette smoking. It is imperative that we get a non-smoking building. I know that room requests are just REQUESTS. However, does Disney make priority for health related needs such as this? I wouldn't have a problem getting it documented from our doctor. I was so excited to book our trip, I didn't even think to ask about this. :rolleyes1

Thanks in advance. :goodvibes

Explain to CRO exactly what you just said above. They will have "guaranteed non-smoking" put on the reservation. I am in the same boat as you and that is what they do for me. I make sure they word it that way. Disney does anything for you for medical reasons, just make sure you let CRO know exactly what you need. I even ask them twice to make sure they have it saying non-smoking guaranteed.

Thanks for the quick reply. Am I still able to call the CRO to add this to my ressies since I've already booked/paid deposit? I wasn't sure if the ressies could be changed/added on to at this point. THANKS :)

Yes you can. Just simply call them and say you want to add a room request to an existing reservation. Be clear that you cannot be in a smoking room/building due to severe asthma. They have always been great about making sure it was noted on my reservation.

Just so you know, that only means no smoking inside the building, but smoking outside on the walkway (or even in front of your room and it gets sucked in the air conditioning) is still considered ok. Also, sometimes people don't seem to pay attention that they are in a non smoking room, and smoke there anyway.

::yes::
Most of the problems I have seen people posting about were not really Disney's fault. Most of the time, they were assigned a non-smoking room, but someone had smoked in it anyway.

I don't have asthma, but severe allergies, and ciggarette smoke is one of allergy triggers. On my last trip, when I booked, I told CRO. On my confirmation, it said non-smoking gaurenteed for medical reasons. Just let them know, and CRO will send a new confirmation with that info. When you check in, I would just remind cast member there too. I had no problems though. Hope this helps!

I requested a non-smoking room for our 3 rooms I booked. Like you I was just so excited I forgot to mention dgs5 can't be in a smoking room because of his asthma. However on our Reservation Confirmation I received it does say "Guaranteed Non-Smoking". Also I had requested a ground floor because of our other families ds6 because he is autisic and he paces back and forth and jumps up and down when he gets excited. They noted what I had said on the Reservation Confirmation. Although it does not say the ground floor is guaranteed. If they put him above someone there going to hear him running across the floor until he falls asleep.

In the event that you get down to Disney, get your non-smoking room, but get to your room and smell cigarette smoke because someone ignored the non-smoking postings there, just call the CMs and they can get your room changed. My husband has asthma and I have this very odd allergy to cigarette smoke. No asthma, but if I get so much as a wiff of smoke it sends me into coughing fits for a good 10 minutes. Took me forever to figure out what it was causing those too! Anyways we had the same concern when it came to our last Disney trip, and while we did manage to secure a non-smoking room, we were both sick within a few minutes of getting into it becuase of the smokey smell in it. We just went back to the front desk and explained the situation very politely, and the CMs were so nice! They had us a new room at the All Star within 20 minutes. It was clean, totally devoid of smoke, and they did this for us during peak season on a weekend! :) Disney will do their best to accomodate you. Absolute worst case scenario, if that happens to you, and there are no other rooms available, they may upgrade you to a different resort. They said they would send us to the POR if they had no rooms available.
