My mom is thinking about booking a trip for Me,her, and my dad to go snowtubing and skiing. She's found some places that look good, but she thinks they'll be waaaay to crowded. We're planning on going on presidents week and we want to go somewhere in the Pocono's. What are some good places :confused3

d00d, just PM me. ;)

We've got:
Shawnee.
Camelback.
Sno Mtn.
Elk Mtn.
Alpine Mtn.
Big Boulder.
Jack Frost.
There's one other one I'm forgetting.

Be warned : President's Day weekend is VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY busy!

When ever I go there I go to Jack Frost Mountain.
I have been to a few other places, but Jack Frost is my favorite.
:upsidedow

Thanks for the help [:
My mom said we're thinking about apline mountain because it is one of the smallest and it is a good place for first-time skiiers (me haha).

Hah yeah Alpine is never really busy. It's really small too. Seriously, I did a double black diamond there my first year skiing. And I am by no means a daredevil.

I thought all skiing places are busy on holidays. We're going to Beaver Creek in Colorado, but not on a holiday. Everywhere on holidays is busy if its for vacationing. Good luck skiing!

i go to Ski Roundtop
its near the PA MD line though
really nice place to ski, snowboard and tube!
HAVE FUN! i love snowboarding

For skiing, Perfect North near Cincinnati, Ohio is pretty tight. Went there a few weekends ago to snowboard. Nice size and a lot of variety... I believe they even have lessons there.

big boulder
jack frost
camelback

thats what i like

i live at BB

tubing sounds fun, but my dad is a ski patroller and trust me, it is easily one of the most dangerous things you can do if you arent totally aware every second you are out there.

presidents weekend will be very busy at jack frost for sure, their runs are longer but their lines are too. big boulder has shorter runs but shorter lines too.

If you want nice snow, go to the west coast.

We ski Breckenridge, Colorado a lot, and it can be somewhat crowded in certain areas, but you can always switch mountains. However, I don't believe they offer snowtubing.

Then Vail is always super crowded. Especially on holiday weekends.

Then Heavenly Valley Lake Tahoe, CA is absolutely fabulous.... it can get pretty crowded, but once again, it's big. Once again, not sure about tubing.

Big Sky, Montana is soooooooo cold. I mean frost-bite cold. Layer your long johns and pray you don't freeze cold. Same with Whistler (not to mention, Whistler is extremely expensive).

Transportation-wise, Breckenridge is more accessible because you can stay at a ski-in/ski-out resort. At (North) Lake Tahoe, you stay at the base and take a gondola to the top of the mountain and ski down the other side. So, it's easier to get back to your resort at Breckenridge. Though, personally, I prefer Lake Tahoe snow.... all powder. Breckenridge can be a bit icey in certain areas.

You're more likely to find snowtubing on the east coast, I believe. I've been tubing at Snowshoe in West Virginia, and they have a super fun course. It's least crowded at night (though rather chilly). Depending on your resort, you could have ski-in/ski-out. It can get kind of crowded, though. And they have to make a lot of their own snow. It's icey in the morning and can get slushy in the afternoon, depending on the weather. However, they offer a lot of extras that west coast resorts can't offer due to temperature, such as snowtubing, snowmobiling, horse carriage rides, snowshoeing, etc.

Boulder is for boarders, Jack Frost is for skiiers. I, personally, like JF better, but I'm a skiier.

Breckenridge, Colorado is AMAZING for skiing.
I live in Pennsylvania and we ski out there every year
because my family owns a house on peak 8.
Its gorgeous out there, my favorite place to be in the
whole world.
