Question about Sinus Infections and Surgery

I'm not sure yet that they would do anything about the drainage issue. I think they would just fix the deviated septum, but I'm not sure.

My voice has been better this past week or so, so I am debating whether or not to go through with the theme park audition. For those who had the surgery, did it have any effect on your voice?

I'm not a singer, but I can tell you I still get hoarse rather fast. Even after the surgery (18 years ago) I still get the drip that irritates my throat...but that is most likely allergy related.

I had the the surgery done because I could not breath on the right side, so if you blocked the left I would have to breath through my mouth. I had no sinus opening on the right so they had to carve out the bone and make an opening. Fixed the septum and did something with the turbinates on both sides. The turbinates were not covered by the insurance but everything else was, I knew that going into it though.

I am glad I had it done. Made a huge difference in my breathing and with the sinus issues. Made my allergies worse though since I was breathing more stuff in..but we got that under control pretty fast.

Oh..and funny but true story that really has no relation at all to the surgery itself.

A friend and my kids had surgery when she was younger. Had constant infections, always had the drip on one side. They finally did a ct scan and saw a growth. They schedule surgery to remove it and upon removing the growth and examining it figured out the growth was a piece of play doh that she got up her at some point when she was little and she sniffed it up into her sinus. This little thing was causing all her infections and once they removed it..one last round of antibiotics and it was all cleared up. Poor kid went about 8 or 9 years always being sick..and it was play doh!

I had sinus surgery and repaired deviated septum about 3 years ago.

After surgery my nose didn't hurt at all for the first 2 days. The doctor told me it wouldn't hurt for the first two days because they shoot you up with so much numbing stuff it takes awhile to seep out of the tissues.

On the 3rd day I was having to take Morphine every 6 hours because it was hurting so bad.

I am glad I did it. My sinus infections stopped and I could breathe a lot better through my nose. I also had a cyst/polyp removed from one of the tubes in your cheek/side of your nose. I don't know what they are called.

Even though it was severely painful I would definitely do it again.

I didn't realize how much I couldn't breathe until they opened it all up in there and I COULD breathe.
