My best friend and I are being bad mothers and wives and taking a "Girl's Trip" in Dec. My DH is retired military so we're staying at the SOG. We will be there for 2 nights and going to the MK for a full day before going to Port Canaveral. I have not stayed at the SOG since the mid-late 1990's and was wondering what area is the best to stay in as far as rooms go. We're planning on walking over to the Poly and catching the Monorail (as long as this is still okay!) to the MK. We're not concerned with the pool and really want to be as close as possible to the walkway to the Poly. Any suggestions?!? Thanks!

We returned from the Shades of Green a few weeks ago. Really no matter where you stay, the hallways are all fairly long and you will have to get to the lobby to get out the front door to head towards the Poly. We stayed in the new wing, which is nice because it is nearest the parking garage. It also had a gorgeous view of the golf course. We walked to/from the Poly several times. There is a very nice paved pathway to take that passes several small lakes. If you are lucky, the Shady Shuttle (a golf cart that seats about 7) will come along to give you a ride to or from the edge of the Shades property nearest the Poly. I will request the new section again on our next trip. We loved it's convenience! ::MinnieMo

Thanks for the reply, I was really wanting to check out the new wing. :cool1: BTW, Welcome To The DIS!!! :earsgirl:

I agree with Luv2Diz about SOG's new section. We've stayed there twice and loved our view of the golf course...so peaceful...There are no rooms that are really near the walkway to the Poly. The only way you could minimize your walking is to stay in a room near the elevator. We walked to the Poly many times and also took the Shady Shuttle when it was available. You could also take a bus to TTC and catch the monorail there. The bus leaves SOG every 15 minutes, so there is usually always a bus there. When we were too tired to walk, we went to TTC to transfer. Have fun! :)
