DD and her best friend are staying at SSR by themselves on our points in a few weeks as a college graduation present. They will share some expenses, but some (ie souvenirs, alcohol, some meals) they are each paying their own. Can they each put a credit card on file tied to their individual room keys, or can there only be one card per room?
We've not had this come up before, thanks for any insight.

They will now allow you to assign different credit cards to different room keys. Just ask at check-in.

I'd recommend not doing an online check-in.

Good to know. I can see letting our dd use our points in the future - this could come in handy.

True but.... check the charges periodically and certainly at check out...

much easier to fix any mis-applied (yet it happens!) charges before you check out...

after the fact and they will tell you to sort it out yourselves.

Griz

I wouldn't take the chance of it getting messed up because it will. Just let them pay with their CC or other method at the point of sale.

Whereas I just hung up the phone with Chase about our credit card number being stolen yet again, I say the less transactions with a CC the better.

Previous provided advice about verifying that the room charges are hitting the proper guest' card is good practice. Last time rooming with another family, two of their three KTTW charges were tracking on our tally.

This is a fact of CC use and it does happen and has at WDW including at the resorts themselves. It's easy to fix and only an annoyance for a CC. IMO it's a small risk vs an almost guaranteed issue with a group that may or may not be equipped to deal with it correctly. However, if that's a concern there are other ways to handle this issue without the risk of the resort system messing it up. Cash, debit cards, prepaid cards and any combination of these options could serve the same purpose.

I had a friend who had someone file a fraudulent tax return under his name, that's a much bigger mess. We use a separate ATM/debit card for travel that is not linked to our other accounts, it has no fee including to reload it and I keep just enough for the trip on the card. I can reload it online during the trip and I can unload it the same way which I routinely do even before the trip has concluded in many cases.

I am one for idea of the fewer charges in CC the better. While at Disney with my in-laws I will go to the front desk several times during the trip to ask for the room charges to make sure all is right rather than going over a large charge list at the end.
