I thought I knew everything to expect when I booked a split stay for Sept 30-Oct 5, 2014, and Oct 5-Oct 9, 2014. I booked 2 packages with paid dining and minimum 1-day tickets. Check, right?

Wrong. The Disney phone CM in Reservations informed me that she couldn't book the 2 reservations with 1-day base tickets. It would only work if I booked 1-day PH tickets. Something (unclear) about the MK ticket being more, blah blah (I already know about the $5 price difference).

This question is one of curiosity. Later next year I am going to change the reservations to Military Dine ticketless, after the (hoped for) military discounts come out in approx. July 2014. The only reason I reserved so early was to get a specific room booked (CR Garden Wing Deluxe) b/c there are only 3 of these rooms total, and the week I wanted was already sold out -- over a year out.

Does anyone know about a change in minimum tickets for a paid dining plan package, occurring some time in 2014? Or is there some sort of misunderstanding by the CM (or me)?

I imagine its a misunderstanding. No reason you can't add a 1 day base ticket for a particular park on there. If you're switching it up anyway though it wouldn't make much of a difference.

Side note: having your room booked at rack rate doesn't mean it will be available with a military discount. Booking a room in advance serves no advantage in that aspect.

Thanks. The CM absolutely insisted it had to be a 1-day PH, not base ticket. or she couldn't make the res go through on her computer. I understand the Military rate might not be avail. First I will look for a Disney offer and (hopefully) get that. I just wanted to secure the room res because of its rarity. If no discount comes thru, I might have to change plans to another category.

I wonder if things have changed since they started having a different price on the 1-day ticket if you intended to use it at MK.

Although why they would require a park hopper, I'm not sure.

Can you try a dummy booking on the website to see if it accepts it with the minimum tickets? That should be an indicator as to whether the system accepts it

Thanks for the good suggestion, 2Tiggies. I did a dummy booking (should have done this to begin with). I was allowed to select either 1-day base ticket, no problem. I learned that the higher-priced MK ticket ($95) is only good at MK, if more days aren't added (doesn't make sense). Likewise, the lower-priced Ep,HS,AK ticket ($90) is only good at those parks if days are not added (does make sense). The dummy booking came out to basically the same as my price by phone, with a difference reflecting the deletion of PH option from the tickets.

I can only think the phone Reservations CM had a glitchy computer program. Thanks again for your input.
