I'm leaving tomorrow out of Kennedy and was wondering if you have to actually show the security people what you have in that "1 qt. zip lock bag" or just let it go through without mentioning anything until they "ask".

Any advance help will be appreciated!! I'm flying alone and already have a problem going through the security point - artificial hip and I always have to get "screened" on the side!!! Usually I have DH with me keeping an eye on the bags as I get "searched". :rotfl:

You are required to remove the zip lock bag and place the bag in one of the little plastic containers. It goes through the X-Ray machine, just like your shoes, coins etc.

You need to remove the quart bag from your carry on and place it in a bin to go through the xray machine.

It has to come out and be put in it's own seperate bin.... Failure to do so may result in a TSA agent on a power trip deciding you were trying to "hide" something which some of them view as an opportunity to "teach you the error of your ways"
Tell the agent you want to stay where you can see your stuff. They should allow this or allow you to move your stuff..... (If not, you can pull my trick and ask for a supervisor.)

Thank you all so much. I think what I'll do is keep the little (and this is little compared to what I would normally take :rotfl2: ) bag in the side pouch for easy access. This way it's easy in and out!
