are flip-flops and sneakers with jeans too casual for dinner at Roy's? should we bring something more dressy?

Yes to the first and YES to the second. Enjoy a great meal by one of Hawaii's finest.

It is down the street about two blocks and on the other side of the street. Any easy walk or there is a shuttle that goes back and forth down the street. We love Roy's. It's very casual and very good food. We had people complain about pricey it was, but we didn't think so at all. Four people with a bottle of wine was about 150. Not bad at all

Actually, flip flops are fine. But otherwise, not beach attire. Every female in our party had on flip flops, with skirts/dresses. Two of the guys had flip flops, including my son who wore shorts / aloha shirt and flip flops. I wore a long skirt and flip flops. No one blinks an eye at flip flops here. Just make them not $5 old navy plastic flip flops.

And enjoy the meal! It's one of my favorites. We had the most amazing sushi there. Literally - melt in your mouth salmon.

We've been to Roy's twice now- after our first Aulani visit we knew that each time we go there it will have to include a dinner at Roy's. Fantastic! Google "Roy's Ko Olina" and you can view a sample menu. We also really enjoy Alan Wong's in Honolulu, but that takes some effort to get to (not that it's not worth it!). Roy's is just across the street from Aulani at the Ko Olina Golf Club (5-10 minute walk), so it is an easy choice.
