hi guys, my husband would like to know what a navigator's veranda is vs a regular veranda. (ie: what is the difference between a delux stateroom with veranda and a delux stateroom with a navigator's veranda). Thanks, maggie
PS: I was looking through our memberbook with all the point charts and we have a very old cruise page (2000) Where would I find the current cruise points?

Can't help you with the points question, but basically a navigator's verandah is more closed in with the exception of a large round open "port hole" and the regular verandah has a more traditional rail. On most this is wooden top rail with smaller rails and then plexiglass on the inside. Be advised there are some towards the back of the ship that are metal and the view is considered obstructed.

There are several good links out there including Dave from Marietta's website that shows this in more detail. I don't remember his link off the top of my head but just look for one of his postings and you'll find it!

A Navigator's Veranda is always placed in the aft section of the ship and is created because of the additional exterior metal on the outside of the ship. If you're looking at a side view of the ship, it's where there is more white paint towards the rear, and they're only on decks 5, 6, and 7.

They have additional decorations in the veranda area, such as builtin benches and they're decorated in a nautical theme.

They have a metal veranda with a large opening the size of a porthole. Many people like them because they provide more privacy than a regular veranda as well as more protection from the wind and an occasional raindrop.

Dave from Marietta's website is at: http://www.dcltribute.com

Barb and Tony have a website with photos of the navigator's veranda at : http://www.castawayclub.com/

hope that helps

I have several pics of a Navigator Verandah room HERE. This was on the Wonder, which has larger open portholes (being slightly rectangular with rounded corners) than the Magic (which has round portholes, thereby reducing the size).
