You can call Member Services and request a room or location. You don't have to wait to check in, in fact, I would recommend you didn't.

The one thing to keep in mind is, like all Disney's resorts, is that this is a REQUEST-- you might not get what you ask for. That's why you should call now and get it on your ressie so that there is advance notice of what you want.

Good Luck!!!!

I've noticed that they "give" you one request. Not that they are fulfilled. But they do try to fulfill one. Unfortunately when we made our reservations for OKW, they asked me if I wanted smoking or non smoking, I said I didn't care, but I would like a room close to the Hospitality House. Well they listed a non smoking room as my first request. So needless to say, we were in the farthest building from the Hospitality House. But we enjoyed the trip anyhow. We love OKW and will go back at sometime. We are trying to stay at all of them first before going back to the same one.

When we were at SSR in Oct I had called MS and requested Congress Park with a DTD view. When we checked in (around noon) we had a choice of 2 different studios in CP. We chose the one closest to the DTD path but had to wait until almost 4 to get in.

I try to have all of my request ready when booking. I've found that to be the best way to have more requests fulfilled.
When requesting to be near another family, be careful because that request will take precedence. My sister and brother in law requested to be near my room last year- my request was for pool view, 1st floor. I got the pool view, my sister got a room near me- but that was the only one of her requests honored.

Make your requests a general as you can - close to DTD, close to main pool, upper floor, etc. Don't ask for a specific room. That's a good way to end up disappointed. If the room(s) you requested are not available when you check in (DVC will not keep a room vacant waiting for someone), the CMs will have no idea what you really wanted.

It doesn't hurt to politely repeat your requests at check in -

Best wishes -

just curious - does non-smoking room request take precedence over all other requests such as room location ?

With mine it did, and I didn't even ask for it. They asked if I wanted a smoking or non smoking and I said it didn't matter. On my reservation non smoking room was listed first for requests, then wanting to be near Hospitality House. I guess it just depends.
