If we attach a debit/credit card to it and make daily charges, will our debit/crdit card be charged daily....or at the end of our trip? Thanks!!

I believe each category of resort has a different spending allowance on the room key before they charge your debit/credit card. I stayed at the Poly last week and my limit was at each interval of $1,500 (that they charged my card). If you don't reach that limit then they'll charge your debit/credit card the day you check out.

The categories are $500 for values, $1000 for moderates and $1500 for deluxes.

And I agree that if you don't reach that limit, your card is charged at the end of your stay. I can't imagine the nightmares if anything was charged immediately and it was wrong.

One charge at the end of the trip or when you hit your limit and need it freed up again. Brilliant on their part as it saves them from having to pay 30 cents to Mastercard/Visa every time you buy a bottle of water or a churro.

Does everyone in your party get a key card? For example, there will be me, DH and DD, do we each get a card, but I can restrict DD's card from having charging privleges if I choose. Do I have this right?

You can restrict charging privileges so that only you and husband have them and kids do not.

need this clairfied at bit - so if I stay at a moderate resort and instead of carrying around cash, travelers cks ect I can just use my room key and charge everything on that and pay by cash, cr/dr card or travelers cks at check out?

Have the free dining plan this year so won't be spending much but want to know this just in case. In the past we just use travelers cks and cash.

Correct...that's available for any Disney resort guests, not just the moderates. There's a few snack carts, etc. that don't take the room key charge, but most stores and restaurants do. It's one of our favourite perks for staying on-site...

On this same topic....

Does anyone know if you can place a limit/set amount on a childs room card, like they do on a cruise?
I usually don't like to add "unlimited cash access" to my sons card and usually give him cash with no charging priveleges, but if I can put $100. and then know that if he loses it I am not in the hole for huge cash OR a headache to get it straightened out, that'd be great!

ANYONE??

I don't believe you can limit the charging amount on a room card to less than the specified amount for the type of resort you are staying at.

What you can do is get your son a WDW gift card in the amount you are willing to let him spend. That gift card is used just like a charge card, but his spending cannot exceed the amount that you load the card with.

OH, that sounds good. Can I get it at resort? Or at a Disney Store??

Actually, you can get any Visa, Master Card, American Express, Discover or Diner's Club prepaid gift card and use that. Those you can pick up at places like Wal Mart and Kroger. We've received gift cards from a very generous person and have used them all over Disney World. Works anywhere a credit card or room key does.

I believe you can get Disney gift cards at the Disney store. When we went last year, my school was doing a fundraising program by selling various gift cards and that was one of the options, so I think you can.

Thanks for the info on the gift cards. I think this will work for us!

Not exactly..
If you put a CC on file, it will be charged at midnight the night before you check out. You cannot just pay the amount at check-out because it will have already been charged. It's a major pain in the butt for the CM to cancel all of those charges and re-do it. You have two options in this case:
1)Make 1000000000% sure the CM does not put "express check-out" on the reservation. Ask them to check again after you are checked in. For some reason that little box sometimes re-checks itself and then your CC will be charged for that.
2)Go to the front desk the night before check-out and settle everything then so that there is nothing to charge on the CC.

With the charging privileges they are an all or nothing deal- you either give it to someone or you don't. You can't block off a certain dollar figure. In a family of 3, the two adults can have it but not allow little junior. If they do give it to him though, he can spend as much as he wants and they cannot put a limit on him.

1) Sounds reasonable, but not accurate.
2) You can
. . . have different keys charge to different credit cards
. . . have different keys with different charging limits using different credit cards
. . . have different keys with charge or non-charge permission
3) I have done all three options in #2 for guests many, many times.
