Question about resort/tickets package/husband that doesn't like WDW?

We went to WDW the last week of August this year. We stayed at the BC/Poly and had a great time. My husband does not really like Disney. He's tired of going and I don't like going to WDW with someone who is negative about it. Our children (13, 13, 7), love it and love going every year. My husband stays at the hotel and goes to the health spa/pool but really does not like going to the parks.

My question, if we do decide to go to Disney next year, can he come but not get any tickets? I really don't want to spend $350 for tickets if he is not going to use them.

I was thinking, I would let him stay at the resort and go to health club/pool and my children and I would go to parks during the day and then have dinner at one of the resorts. There are enough restaurants that he would not even have to step foot in a park.

Can I book package for just myself and children with tickets and he just come along to stay in room? Could he use the magical express?

The way to do that (in the last paragraph) means you're adding him at checkin. Alas, that means he can't ride magical express if he arrives at the same time as you. If he arrived 6 or so hours later (to account for small delays landing and getting to and on the bus then adding him and calling DME) he could get on the bus.

We don't book packages so that's my suggestion; just don't book a package.

Or if you really like packages and he likes to travel with you, book with the minimum tickets then upgrade the family's once you get there. His tickets can be used by other people (though I'm not sure if the process anymore) in the future. Though if you always have a package that gets to be a lot of extra tickets. :)

The only reason to book a package is to have the dining plan, but you mention just a resort & tickets. If you are not getting a dining plan it would be better to book a room only and purchase the tickets separately through an authorized third party ticket seller at a small discount (e.g. Undercover Tourist, AAA, Maple Leaf) or from Disney. If you purchase the tickets separately you would not have to buy a ticket for your husband.

If you book a package everyone in the room would have to have the same package components. Also, the final payment date and change/cancellation policy for a package is much more stringent than for a room only reservation.

As long as your husband is listed on the room reservation he can use Magical Express.

Our family...and kids and their adult kids love WDW! My hubby likes it but like you say sometimes the guys want to different things or go somewhere else(geez)....in a word...does he golf???
Bringing the clubs on a plane isnt difficult and send him to do that...the CM's will pair him with someone.....Stay at his fav resort...if he has one..or go to dinner at the restaurant in might enjoy...there are some great new places in Disney Springs now....

You didn't mention being on the dining plan. What would be the reason to book a package? Just book a room only and purchase your tickets separately. Everyone can ride the ME together.

If you book a room only reservation and buy your tickets separately then he can ride the Magical Express and just stay in the room. You could also buy him different tickets, a one or two day ticket, for example, and get different tickets for you and your children. :) You can buy the tickets through Disney before you are 60 days away from arrival date and then you will be able to make fastpass selections at 60 days out. :) You could also buy tickets from a discount broker and save a little money.

We always book room only (and usually at a discount) and buy tickets separately; partly because DH may not even go into the parks some days and we do not like the dining plans. Sometimes I would buy him a non-expiring ticket (don't think those are available anymore) so that his unused ticket days would be a future trip. Disney has made being flexible harder these days.

You could buy him a 3-4 day ticket for fewer days than your stay and add extra day(s) as desired if he chooses to go into a park. Even if DH goes into a park he usually meets us midday for a meal or to do one or two attractions he likes. I always make sure that he gets to eat at his favorite places and to make him feel glad that he came along in some way. I've arranged an in-room massage and grocery delivery with things he likes.

Don't book a package. Or, if you want the dining plan, book a ticketless package (that has to be done by phone, not online). Then, he doesn't have to buy any tickets. Or if he decides he wants to go, you can buy just the days he needs (might be hard to match him up with fastpasses though if you want to do that).

If you book a package with tickets, he has to get the same tickets. Unless you want a dining plan, there really isn't a good reason to book a package.
