Question about resort beaches

For those resorts with beaches on a lake, where no swimming is allowed, are the kids still allowed to play on the beach? I'm wondering how that works and if there's any barrier or anything to prevent them from running into the water. We're planning on a WL vacation, and I know there is a beach, but it would be confusing to my young sons to play on the beach but not be allowed to touch the water! Is it a better idea to just avoid the beach?

I don't see why they couldn't play in the sand. The WL has lounge chairs on the "beach," and I know that GF and Poly do as well.

As far as a barrier, I don't remember anything there to prevent anyone from entering the water, so you'll have to exercise caution.

We'll be at the WL in 10 days. Not sure if we'll get to the beach.

At CSR (if memory serves) there is a natural barrier of plants between the beach and water. Maybe having you child dressed in clothes and sandals while playing, as opposed to a swimsuit, so less temptation to run in would help.

There is no physical barrier at the beaches. Disney relies on the signs (and maybe alligators ) to keep people out of the water.

You're the best judge of how this will be received by your child.

Last time we stayed at Poly there were plenty of kids playing on the beach in the sand. There was nothing to stop kids from getting in the water except the parents.

Sure kids can play on the beach. If I'm recalling correctly, I think there is an area of the WL beach, or it might be the whole thing, where you can't walk into the water because the beach is raised above the water. I looked at my photos but I can't tell for sure.. I've always told my DD she couldn't play in the water at WDW and the only beach where I usually had to remind her a few times is the Poly just because there are usually lots of kids playing near or in the water there and its hard for her not to join in. Take a walk to the beach first and see if you think it'll be ok for your children. You can avoid the beach at WL easily.

This is how I remember it too. I think it kind of slants up??? It's a 'beach' in that it has sand, but not a beach in that it doesn't slant down gradually into the water. Does that make sense? I just responded to your other post about the WL and mentioned this, but I'll reiterate - my kiddos had lots of fun playing on the beach and the playscape last Sept. (1 and 3 year olds). We had no issues with them trying to wander down into the water.

Yes, or maybe it was a crock. This being FL, you can expect to see one in just about any body of water.

no they can definitely ran into the water.

with the exception of OKW. OKW doesn't it call its playground a beach - but it is white soft sand and the pool is the closest water to it.

all the quiet pools also have a playground. but I am talking about the main one.

Yes I have seen gators in all the waters of Disney World.
