I just rented from a DVC member and after receiving the confirmation # I called 407-WDISNEY to check that the reservation was made. It was indeed made for the dates requested and in my name... however it says that there is a balance due of $2000+ Can anyone confirm as to why this might be?!?

Thanks
Brad

It's is a mistake. In the past, you couldn't call Disney Reservation Center and get info on your DVC reservation. But DVC is trying to integrate their reservations with the rest of Disney reservation process. If you owe any money, you owe the member, not Disney. They aren't involved in your resrvation in any way.

I would contact the owner that you are renting from and ask if they have any idea why your reservation is showing up in the regular Disney system.

DVC reservations are made through a different avenue. the only thing I can think of is that, and this really makes very little sense, is that the DVC member rented you a regular reservation that was booked.

It's always been my understanding that a non-member couldn't even check the status of a ressie. Thus the reason MS always asks you to verify your member #, address, etc. EVERY phone call you make to them. It's a matter of trust.

Also...if you added a dining plan that could be an explanation.

How many people are going? How many days? Did you get a dining plan?

I am getting this frequently where guests call Disney Reservations direct and are told there is a balance. I agree that it must have something to do with the integration and now Disney Reservations can see the reservations, where they couldn;t in the past. I don't think the majority of CM's know how to handle the call.

Thanks... I do think it is probably just an issue with their system as well. I did receive the DVC confirmation letter which shows the number of points redeemed for the stay. The balance that the system says is due is actually what the price would be if I booked online through Disney's website. So I'm assuming that the system just doesn't recognize this as a DVC reservation and is showing what the retail balance would be.

Secondly... I was also wondering...
We are staying at AKV on 10/17-10/22... we were initially waitlisted for the first night, but since then that has opened up and become available. There are now two reservations, the original for the last four nights and then the one for the first night that was waitlisted. Both are for a studio at AKV.... should I be trying to request that these reservations be linked at all? If not is there any concern about having to switch rooms after the first night?

Contact the person you are renting from and make sure they are indeed linked. My guess is they are, but I'd check with the owner just to make sure.
