We would like to stay at the BWV next year....I have a couple of questions regarding staying on rented points.

If we are able to rent points from a DVC member, is our stay considered a member stay or a non member stay?

will our room be serviced daily or weekly?
will we have to pay for extra towels?
can we pool hop to other DVC resorts or is that only for DVC members?
will we be able to use extra magic hour, charge meals, shopping etc to our room?
can we have shopping sent back to our room?

How can you tell we are newbies to renting DVC points?

will our room be serviced daily or weekly?weekly
will we have to pay for extra towels?if you want more than the room provides, yes
can we pool hop to other DVC resorts or is that only for DVC members?yes, but not to SAB in some cases. At certain times of the year, no pool hopping allowed
will we be able to use extra magic hour, charge meals, shopping etc to our room?yes, just pay the amount before you leave.
can we have shopping sent back to our room?yes. Just do not send anything the night before you leave. It may not arrive in time.

How can you tell we are newbies to renting DVC points?

I hope this helps. :teeth:

Technically, you are not entitled to the DVC member perks, like pool hopping since you are not a member and you are not there with the member. You may get them. Some of the perks require the blue DVC Member card which you will not have.

You will be entitled to any perks that all resort guests get, such as EMH, charging to your room key, sending your packages to the resort store for pickup instead of carrying them yourself. They do not deliver them to your room.

You will get 4 bath towels, probably two hand towels and four face cloths in a studio or one bedroom. Double that for a two bedroom, triple for a grand villa. Room occupancy is 4, 4, 8 and 12. Plus one under the age of three in a pack and play.

If you stay less than 8 nights, you will get Towels replaced and trash removed on day 4 (with day 1 as the day you check in). Thats Towels and Trash. If you stay at least 8 nights you will get a full cleaning on day 4 with Towels and Trash on day 8.

More than likely, you will be treated like a member and your room ID will say Member.

There are at least 5 different levels of stay.
  • members
  • guests of a member
  • those who rent from a member
  • II exchangers
  • DVC cash guests through CRO.
Some of the perks are extended to guests and others are not. And many are specifically excluded from renters. As a renter you should expect those amenities that everyone gets such as free park parking, EMH and the like. If your stay is at least 4 days you will get a single trash and towel day, usually on day 4. If you stay 8 days you will get a full cleaning with a T&T also, usually on day 4 for the full cleaning and day 7 for the T&T. Beyond that extra towels are a charge item though they many times do not charge you. Pool Hopping should be excluded but if your card says member, you may indeed get certain benefits not guaranteed to you.

learn something New everyday..

Thanks

why would a person .. that you made a reservation for not be entitled to Parking ??

and every time we have had others with us just last week !
it also said dvc member on there room Key ?

To clarify, there is a difference between renters, Guests, and Guests actually staying WITH a member. Renters are never entitled to member benefits. If a member lets someone else use their points they are Guests, but are not entitled to the member benefits. However, if a member uses the points for themselves and takes guests WITH them, then those guests ARE entitled to member benefits.

Theme park parking is free for anyone staying in a WDW resort, including DVC, so it makes no difference whether they're members, guests, or renters

Free Valet parking is available only to members, and guests staying with them at the same time.

The DVC computer systems will put the phrase "Member" on any key for any reservation that was made using points. Since this is misleading it's the reason it is becoming more and more necessary to also show your blue membership card when obtaining perks.

I'm new to renting points also. Will they update the point calculater soon to include 2006 dates?

Download my DVC-Chart program. It has all the point charts for all dates through 2054.

All charts have an algorithm that adjusts the points around the holidays the same way Disney does. Originally created in 2001, the charts have proved to be 100% accurate when compared to Disney charts released each year.

Thank you to everyone for answering my questions.

I wasn't expecting the member perks but I was hoping that we would still get all the regular disney benefits - EMH, park parking, shopping delivered to resort and charge privileges.

I apologise for putting my question on the wrong board, I wasn't sure where to put it.

I am looking forward to our trip especially as we may now get to stay at the BWVs!
