Question about renting points

We currently have a reservation for a 1-bedroom at VWL for dates June 5-10 2005 (Sunday-Thursday) We have decided that we would like to add Saturday, June 4th, if possible. However, we only have 20 points remaining for this year to work with, and don't won't to borrow. So, what we would like to do, if possible, is to rent 36 points to add to our 20 for the Saturday night stay.

How would I go about doing this? Try to rent 36 points and have them transferred to our account? I'm not even sure if the a 1-bedroom is available for that date, should I check that first?

I don't like asking so many questions, but haven't a clue as to how to go about this.

Thanks!

Yes you can work out a rental/transfer with another member and then book it all from your account. Most likely there is availability since it is a weekend but I would check before going through with a transaction.

Of course you can go ahead and post on the rent/trade board to see if you can find someone to work with before you call MS on Monday.

Good luck,
Lori

It's a whole lot easier to just borrow the points. :) That said, I'd check for a cash ressie before I'd rent points. Bet you could add that night for a less than renting 36 points will cost you. Call MS on Monday and see if they have a Member discount available for that night - since you want a Saturday, there's a relatively good chance they do.

Best wishes -

If it was up to me, we would be borrowing the points! This will be our first DVC vacation, and DH is not much of a borrower anyway. I'm just happy that he was willing to buy into DVC; I don't want to push my luck! ;) (I need to work gently on adding a few more points)

Thanks for your responses! First thing I'll do is call member services on Monday to see what it would cost for the night. Then, I'll go from there.

I agree with CarolMN :)

If you can get the member discount, I'd book that way...it probably will be less expensive than to rent the points. Plus if you book with the member discount through DVC, they can link the cash night to your points ressie and it will be like one long ressie;) (not that renting the points would be any different - but less expensive and easy)

Just an FYI too...I booked the Sat.night before my points stay for this upcoming stay I have in VB and was told that while they did not have the stay available for points it was available for the member discount with cash...so apparently you may have more chance of availibility sometimes with the cash nights through MS.

Good luck!
